I made my way to Ponyville, where I bought the first train ticket I saw, hoping by mere chance that fate would step in. Getting onto the train, I sat at the far end of the final carriage, since no pony really sat here. The train would travel by night, and the last destination seemed to be the crystal empire. The empire huh? I wonder if the stallion was a crystal pony... It didn't take long for me to fall asleep.
I awoke with a start as the train slowed to a stop. Looking outside, all I saw was ice and snow. This couldn't be the empire, could it? Screams erupted at the front of the train. No, no this wasn't the empire. The roofs of all the carriages were torn away, and the snow began to encase the inside. A low laugh began to make itself known in the darkness. Opening my wings, I channelled the light of the moon.
My talent was benefitting from the moons glow. It gave me strength, stamina, allowed me to see in the pitch black of night and gave me the magic only a horn could possess. Of course, this was only when the moon was out. I let out a breath and flew up into the air. The cold wind didn't affect me as much, now that I had the moon within me. Looking through the now cleared darkness, I saw a pony approaching the train.
Thankfully all of the passengers and staff had run down the track towards the empire a while ago. I was the only one left. Almost as if they sensed my presence, the pony looked up. Red eyes met mine and from pure shock, I fell to the ground. This pony- this stallion, I knew who he was. King Sombra laid his eyes on me, before frowning. "It is you." Silence filled the air as his words flew past me in the wind. "Leave now, before I do something I will regret."
I stood up, looking over at him. Something churned within me, telling me to get closer to this stallion, to be with him. Why the hell was this happening?
"I said leave."
I tried to move, but my body was rigid. It wouldn't budge.
"Oh for Celestia's sake." He muttered. "Fine, but this will not be ideal for either of us." With that, he encased my stoic form with his power and began trekking away from the train, my body floating behind him, into the frozen wastes.
It had been at least half an hour, and Sombra showed no signs of stopping. "Where are you going?" I whispered.
"Shut up." He continued to walk. I didn't speak again until a cave mouth came into view.
"What in Tartarus?" I whispered, looking around as he pulled me inside. The cave looked clean enough, and odd bits of furniture were scattered around, giving the impression of a home. A large bed stood to one side of the cavern, and a sizeable fire burned brightly in the centre. This was where he'd been living for all this time. I couldn't help but marvel at how he'd managed to survive in such a remote, harsh place.
I was set down beside the fire, and Sombra made his way over to what looked like a table, some half-frozen meat lying there, abandoned from when he probably last left the cave.
"Sit down."
Raising an eyebrow, I complied. Somehow, in my heart I knew I wasn't in any immediate danger, but I had to be cautious. From what I remember about him, one wrong move from me could spell my doom.
And yet-
I just couldn't convince myself that I would be hurt.
