The chariot softly hit the ground, coming to a halt beside the crystal castle. I looked around in horror, watching crystal ponies drag themselves across the streets, heavy chains attached to their hooves and necks. Other ponies had large helmets covering their faces, and it looked like they were taking on the roles of guards and enforcement.

Everything looked so dead.

Sombra guided me off the chariot and began to gently pull me in the direction of the empire's centre. I averted my gaze from the rest of the empire, fear beginning to bubble up inside me as I followed the returned king inside his castle.

Sombra led me through dark crystal hallways, the high ceilings looming over me menacingly, until we reached  a set of large double doors. He pushed them open and we entered what looked like the throne room. A large throne stood in the middle, a slightly smaller one next to it. Sombra looked back at me to make sure I was looking, and then proceeded to pull me towards the two dark crystal thrones. I pulled back, common sense finally kicking in.

"What's wrong?" Sombra turned to me, his brows furrowed slightly.

"N-nothing..." I said, cursing internally at my stutter.

"Y/N, you know you can tell me anything. Is it too much? Do you want a smaller throne? Or do you want a bigger one?-"

"I don't want any of this!" I snapped, clamping my mouth shut afterwards, my face turning red. I looked down at the floor.

Sombra let out a hum. "Indeed, this is all new to you..." He began to lead me from the room, instead heading for a flight of stairs. "I shall slowly expose you to more of our empire over time. You will come to understand that this is how things should be." He stopped at another large set of doors, me still reluctantly following him.

"After you," Sombra said, gesturing for me to go ahead of him.

Unsurely, I walked over to the doors and creaked them open, peeking inside. It was a bedroom. Thank god, I had a sinking feeling I would find a dead pony in here...

With my heartrate slowing down, I entered the room, Sombra following after me and closing the doors behind us. As I scanned the room, I didn't notice him walking up behind me until he rubbed his flank against mine.

I jumped in fright.

"Ok, what exactly is going on? Why are you acting like this? Like you're afraid of me? Did something happen with Celestia? What did she say?"

"No-" I cut myself off before I said anything stupid. Taking a minute to collect my thoughts, I tried to piece together something believable that wasn't the truth.

"I just get- I just get jittery after a flight."

"You're a pegasus."

"During flights in chariots, Sombra..." I muttered, praying in my head that he would buy it and not question me more.

He didn't even bat an eyelid, only smiled and nodded. "Alright well, let me know when you're feeling better. I have a few things to tend to downstairs. I'll be back tonight." He leant in towards me and I stumbled backwards, my heartrate beginning to pick up again.

Sombra raised an eyebrow but left the room after a few seconds.

As soon as the door closed again I let out a huge breath, collapsing to the ground and trying not to panic as my heart thumped loudly in my chest. Oh fuck oh fuck ohhhhhh fuck. He's taken over the empire. He's killed innocent ponies. Was Celestia right? What was going to happen to me? Is he going to kill me?

Have I walked into my own funeral..?
