After drying myself off, draining the bath and taking a deep breath, I walked back into the bedroom. I could hear distant yelling from out of the window but dared not look to see what was going on. Whatever I would see wouldn't be worth the curiosity.

As I stood near the bed, contemplating what to do next, thunderous hoofsteps came towards the door, enraged cries following after. The door was thrown from its hinges, thumping to the floor, and I let out a cry of fear, watching as a wide-eyed Sombra locked his gaze on me, wheezing slightly. In a plume of smoke he was beside me, hooves around me before I could object or flinch away.

When Sombra finally let go of me, he turned to fix the door. I let out a shaky breath, trying to regain any morsel of composure I previously had. He turned back to me, mouth a thin line.

"Where were you? I was worried sick that something had happened."

"It's- I'm- Fine. It's fine," I somehow sputtered.

"Don't do that to me again," he said, reaching over to touch my hoof.

I flinched away.

Sombra looked up at me, a frown beginning to form on his face. "What's going on?" He grabbed my hoof and pulled me over to sit on the bed. I looked away from him, trying to remember what I was supposed to say. He was catching on to me, I didn't have much time to convince him otherwise-

"I just- this is all so new to me and-" I cut myself off, nervously laughing to fill the silence, "it's making me nervous and awkward and I can't um, I can't help it..." I trailed off, looking at him from the corner of my eye to see if he would buy it. After a minute or so his features softened and he hummed in acceptance.

"Ah don't worry Y/N. Everything will become normal in time. As long as you stay with me, nothing will ever hurt you."

It's not the hurting me that I'm concerned about...

"Come, I wish to show you something." Sombra pulled me over to the window. I couldn't resist his strong hold and I was forced over to the dreaded gap in the wall. Looking out, I could see hundreds of ponies walking slowly in chains, whipped by others to go faster or yelled at to do better. I was overwhelmed with the scene of blood, death and cruelty. I wanted to step back. I wanted to vomit. I knew Sombra was speaking to me, something about our kingdom and- our future, but it was all just distant ringing. He did this. He made this sadistic murderous kingdom and he thinks it's ok.

That's the worst part- he thinks it's ok and he's happy to pull me into it... I turned my head to see his mouth moving animatedly as he looked out on his empire. He seemed pleased with himself.

My ears finally tuned back in to what he was saying as he pulled me over to the bedroom's exit.

"Come on Y/N. I want to show you around outside."

Outside?

Outside?

My feeble attempts to stay put were no match for my sadistic soulmate as he happily pulled me from the one room with which I held familiarity and out into the empire of nightmares.
