"I've been to Ann Taylor Loft, Filene's Basement, and, like, six Forever 21s, and I cannot find a dress that fits. I'm gonna be forced to make my own dress for prom." Lauren was saying as she walked into the choir room with Santana and Brittany.
"You're up for queen, you can't make your own prom dress." Santana said as the three took their seats in front of Rosy, who was sitting with Rachel and Quinn. "Prom is, like, our Oscars." Santana said and Rosy began to laugh at the absurdity of her sentence but the laughter died in her throat when she saw Quinn nodding her head. "It's seriously like the most important night of our lives."
"What about getting married?" Lauren pointed out and Rosy glanced at Santana and Quinn questioningly.
"Oh, you can get married as many times as you want, you only have one shot at your junior prom." Quinn said and Santana nodded.
"Isn't senior prom more important though? Since it's like, you know, senior year?" Rosy asked and Quinn shook her head, but before she could answer, Mercedes walked in.
"What are you guys talking about?" Mercedes asked as she walked over to take a seat on the other side of Quinn.
"Prom dresses." Lauren said, making Mercedes roll her eyes.
"Thank god I don't have to worry about that, I'm not going." Mercedes said, crossing her arms against her chest and Rosy shot Rachel a questioning look, but her friend just shrugged.
"Why not?" Kurt asked, asking the question they were all thinking.
"'Cause nobody's asked me." Mercedes said simply, but before anyone could ask her any further questions, Mr. Schue clapped his hands, gaining all their attention.
"All right, guys- prom." Mr. Schue said and Rosy noticed Mercedes rolling her eyes while Quinn and Rachel both clapped their hands excitedly.
"Please tell me we're not doing songs about prom." Sam said from his seat beside Kurt and Rosy glanced back at him, before looking away quickly when he caught her staring. He had already told her that he wasn't going to prom last week and she had been hoping that he'd change his mind, but by the tone of his voice, it didn't look like it.
"Nope. We are the prom." Mr. Schue said and Rosy frowned in confusion. "Figgins has asked us to perform."
"Let's do 'Run, Joey, Run'!" Rachel said excitedly, but Rosy shook her head at her, lowering her hand down gently.
"No, sweetie. No." Rosy said softly but firmly and Rachel sighed.
"Now I know this isn't ideal with Nationals coming up, but we really don't have a choice." Mr. Schue said and Rosy rolled her eyes. It's not as if we've been hard at work these past few weeks, Mr. Schue. "And, we could really use the money. But I know that prom is a special rite of passage." Mr. Schue said and Rosy and Rachel both noticed Quinn smile over at Finn, making Rosy reach down and squeeze Rachel's hand reassuringly. "I'm gonna make sure that all of you guys get a chance to enjoy the dance too. So, we're gonna stagger the performances so that each and every one of you has a lot of time to dance with your dates." Mr. Schue said, a wide smile on his face, but it disappeared when Mercedes stood suddenly before walking out of the room.
"Is she okay?" Mr. Schue asked and Rosy sighed.
"Mercedes doesn't have a date for prom." Quinn explained and Mr. Schue nodded.
"So? I don't have a date. I'm just going to dance, and then all your dates are gonna ignore you and come dance with me, so really your dates are my dates." Brittany said with a shrug, making Rosy smile, but she noticed Artie looking at the blonde longingly. He had filled her in on their breakup which was followed by a long lecture from Rosy about how in the wrong he was. She did feel slightly guilty because she knew he was fighting a losing battle here, Brittany was in love with Santana and Santana was in love with Brittany. That was just the way it was.
