Rosy sighed as she took another look at herself in the mirror. This was the third outfit she had tried on and she still wasn't happy with it. It was a pair of jeans with one of the cute shirts she'd bought from the mall over the summer while shopping with Rachel, but she wasn't sure if it was nice enough. Today was a very special day after all, not only because it was her first day of junior year, but it was also the day that she and Sam were going to announce their relationship to the glee club. She had been counting down the days and now it was finally here.
She grabbed her phone from where it was charging on her nightstand and checked to see if Sam had responded to her good morning text, but still no response. He hadn't properly responded to any of her texts for the past week or so and when he did text back it was always just one or two words. She sighed and dropped her phone back onto the nightstand before walking back over to the mirror. She was already running later than she had planned and she still had to drop Cal off and she knew that if she changed her outfit one more time then she would be late and she did not want to be late on her first day. It was also Rachel's last first day of high school and Rosy had promised to be there with her friend when she walked in. She sighed and gave her outfit one last look before turning away from the mirror and grabbing her bag and her phone and hurrying out of her room and down the stairs, where Cal was sitting at the table with her dad and Julia, who had gotten married over the summer. She kissed each of them on the cheek in greeting before grabbing a waffle from the stack in the middle of the table and wrapping it in a napkin.
"Come on, we're gonna be late," Rosy said to Cal, who was finishing up his own waffle.
"Okay, I'm ready," Cal said, stuffing the last piece of waffle into his mouth, then hugged his dad and Julia goodbye before picking up his bag and following Rosy outside to the car. Rosy had gotten her driver's license over the summer, something that Finn and Puck still didn't quite believe, and she had been driving as much as she could all summer long because she was scared that if she stopped practicing then she would forget how to drive altogether.
She and Cal sang along to her ABBA playlist on the way to school and when they pulled up in front of the middle school, Cal pecked her cheek goodbye before climbing out of the car. She watched him disappear into the building before driving away. Once she pulled into the parking lot and turned off the car, she picked up her phone and checked her messages again, but still nothing. She bit her lip and sighed but decided not to worry about it before grabbing her backpack and climbing out of the car. She didn't spot Rachel outside of the building and figured that she was probably inside somewhere with Finn, so Rosy walked into the building alone and let out an excited squeal when she saw Puck standing at his locker. She had barely spent any time with him that summer, she had been spending most of her time with Sam obviously, and Finn and Rachel too. She ran over to him and he turned from his locker just in time to catch her in his arms as she leaped onto him, attacking him with a hug, making him laugh loudly as he hugged her back.
"Hey, Moons, how you been?" Puck asked, his voice slightly muffled by her hair.
"I've been good. I missed you so much." Rosy said as he set her down and when she was back on the ground again, she noticed the upset look on his face.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Rosy asked, holding onto his broad shoulders so that he would look down at her.
"Zizes broke up with me." Puck said quietly and Rosy's eyes widened.
"What? Oh my god, I'm so sorry." Rosy said, hugging him again because she knew how much he had liked Lauren.
"It's okay, no biggy." Puck said with a shrug. "I'll just find someone else this year."
"Yeah, I guess," Rosy said with a sigh. This was two years in a row that Puck had been left hurt and Rosy hated it. "By the way, um, have you seen Sam?" Rosy asked, attempting to sound casual and Puck shook his head.
