I was stunned at what I had just read on that shitty letter. Abbie's brother was in huge trouble and he decided to leave all problems with her. How selfish could someone get?
Abbie was still sat on the kitchen counter, sobbing her little heart out and clutching the letter tightly to her chest. Still dressed in the skimpy club outfit that Ryder couldn't stop himself gazing at.
"Come on Abbie, you need to change." I say, lifting her fragile body into my arms and heading up the stairs.
As I reach the top of the stairs, I noticed there was a few doors. The house was fairly large for one person to live in.
"Which room is your bedroom?" I ask in a soothing voice.
"The second door on the right." She says in a monotone voice.
Opening the door, a tidy bedroom with a simple design was presented. Gently bringing her down on to the bed, I watched as she immediately curled up into a foetal position and stayed there. Knowing that she wouldn't get herself changed, I started searching drawers for something suitable to wear.
"What do you want to wear Abbie?" I question, baffled by the choice in her drawers. Why did women own so many clothes?
"I don't care." She snaps, curling into herself further.
I had no clue on how to cope with upset women. What if I said something wrong?
"Okay, I'm going to leave you to get changed. Come downstairs when you're ready." I soothe. "Make sure you pack a bag as well."
"I'm not leaving with you." She screams. "Fuck off!"
"You know this isn't up for discussion. I'll see you downstairs."
I slowly shut the door behind me and walk into the kitchen. Abbie's house was in an absolute state. It could take hours to clean this mess and thousands of pounds to replace everything. The one question stayed in my head while examining the mess. Who did this?
"Is that the woman from the party last night?" Ryder questions. "She doesn't look like her. Mind you I was drunk."
"No, and it isn't any of your business." I snap back.
"Got yourself a girlfriend?" He teases. "I never saw you as the type."
"Shut the fuck up Ryder. I don't have a girlfriend."
"Well I think you're lying."
"She tried to break into my club last night and steal money. I'm keeping her at my place until I can think of something to do with her." I explain.
"You didn't kill her?" Ryder panics. "That's not protocol!"
"Fuck protocol." I groan. "I can't kill a woman."
"You know that's bullshit! She tried to steal from you. There's no way she's allowed to get away with that!"
"Suggest you keep your mouth shut. I'm making a claim on her so nobody can touch what's mine."
"By the looks of this house, we are not the only people that know about her." Ryder comments, gazing over the piles of broken plates.
"I think that it has something to do with her brother. He apparently got himself into debt and decided to leave it with Abbie." I gritted through my teeth.
I was still angry over Mason's shitty choices. Surely, he knew Abbie was going to be very vulnerable, hell she didn't even know how to protect herself and look where it's got her now.
"That's rough. Do you think whoever he's in debt with caused this?" He questions.
It was as if a lightbulb turned on in my head. It made too much sense. This was obviously a warning from whoever needed their money back.
