I awoke to the intrusion of sunlight coming through the blinds and I tried to grab the covers on instinct. Instead of the rough cotton sheets, I was greeted with the stone-cold floor. My eyes snapped open again and I tried to sit up, my back aching in protest. I took in my surroundings to see that I had fallen asleep on the floor.

A tray of food was set next to me, the food almost as cold as the floor. I must have been here for a long time. Slowly, I start to walk over to the bed, desperately seeking the plush feel of the mattress. As I settle myself down, the door swings open with Pavel waltzing through.

"I see you finally got yourself off the floor." He comments, staring me down intensely.

"I am more than capable to get myself off of the floor thank you." I snap.

An evil smirk plays on his lips. "I wouldn't be so smug Abbie. Your baby daddy is currently falling into my trap as we speak."

My hand stilled from stroking my bump as the memories of last night crashed down on me. How could I be so stupid to forget?

I tried to cool my features, let Pavel know that it didn't bother me. Deep down I was screaming and crying but I still refused to let him see it.

"He's smarter than you think." I defy, staring straight at the wall.

"A common motorcycle club biker is no way smarter than a Pakhan." He boasts, straightening his suit jacket.

His over the top ego was radiating off him and I wanted nothing more than to lash out at him. I knew Duke wouldn't fall for his trap; he was smarter than Pavel could ever bargain for. Unless he had changed over the past six months.

"I see you agree then." He comments, his smug grin getting wider.

There was no point in arguing, I could never change his mind. Letting him wallow in pride seemed like the easier option.

Sensing my boredom, Pavel strolled out of the room, not bothering to say another word. I hadn't given him any reaction he desired, and he had nothing to goad me on.

The loud click of the lock slowly calmed me. I was safe for now. My hand started stroking over my stomach again and I got into a more comfortable position. I was currently walking on thin ice while being captive and if Duke was aware of Pavel's devious plans, anything Duke did to retaliate could be brought back down on me. As of now, I had only seen Pavel's calm and collected side. I dreaded to think how he would react if he was angry. The unborn baby in my stomach could only protect me so much and Pavel didn't care much for it anyway.

Duke:

The last few steps of our plan were finally being put into place. Ethan and Michael had reached one of Pavel's safe-houses that we knew Abbie was not located at and planted the shipment. Evan was currently tipping of the FBI, and they would be arriving very soon.

I felt like a giddy schoolgirl thinking about how much I have up-played Pavel's plans. He really thought that I would fall for something so simple and stupid. Only a fool would think it was that easy to get Abbie back.

A cautious knock sounds at the door.

"Come in."

The door slowly opens, and Evan pops his head through, a cautious schooled expression is present on his face.

"The FBI have been tipped off."

"Good." I respond, lighting a cigarette.

I hadn't smoked in years, but the stress of this situation had unfortunately made me start again. I hoped to have ditched it by the time we get Abbie back, I couldn't be smoking around the unborn child.
