I stared at the mahogany desk in front of me; it had been three months since Abbie had tried to steal. Three months since I had taken my little waitress captive.

Over the time Abbie had spent captive, small luxuries had been awarded for being obedient. Mainly rewarded in books as Abbie apparently loved to read but a TV was gifted to her the other day with Netflix already logged in and a profile with her name on it. It took me by surprise how excited and happy Abbie was over the TV, tears threatened to spill out of her eyes and a look of admiration was shown to me.

Abbie's emotions and reactions made no sense. Why would someone act happy about a TV? They were in anyone's home and everywhere you went, it was meaningless as far as I was concerned.

The only problem I was facing with Abbie was the constant nagging about Ryder's health. Every time I came back from the hospital a series of questions would get bombarded on to me.

"How is Ryder?"

"Is he okay?"

"When will he be signed out?"

"Is he mad at me for what happened?"

All of these questions drove me up the wall and almost gave a headache. After a while I learned to expect the questions as they weren't going to slow down anytime soon. Abbie hadn't been allowed to visit the hospital under my own strict rules; after all she was the reason Ryder had gone to hospital in the first place.

It still remained a mystery to who had broken into Abbie's house and who had run Ryder over. The only thing that was certain, was that the estate Abbie lived on was a ghost town and nobody occupied the neighbouring houses. I had gone back twice to receive personal items that Abbie wanted; both times no person was even seen, neither a car. It concerned me a lot; every time the topic was brought up Abbie came up with the same excuse.

"I don't know anything about the estate, my friend gave me the house to rent cheap."

On better news, Ryder was being signed out of hospital today, although if it were Ryder's choice the sign out would have been done a long time ago. I'm sure the nurses and doctors would glad to see the back on him, he was the patient from hell after all. I managed to visit Ryder often to show appreciation towards saving Abbie's life and loyalty as he worked alongside me ever since I took over the motorcycle gang.

A knock at the door pulled me out of my thoughts and my eyes went to the oak door.

"Come in."

Ryder swings the door open with a big grin plastered on his face.

"Did you miss me?" He jokes.

"Hardly, I saw you pretty much every other day."

Ryder take's a seat in front of me pretending to be upset. "You don't even love me anymore."

"Maybe I don't." I smiles.

A long silence was kept between us, both looking at each other the whole time. After a while we both burst into laughter.

"Seriously Ryder, I thought you weren't meant to be leaving until this afternoon."

Ryders eyes gaze over to the clock on the wall. "It is the afternoon Duke."

"Really?" My eyes also filter over to the clock in disbelief.

As Ryder had said, the time read Ten past one, it was way into the afternoon.

"Is there someone distracting you?" Ryder teases bring a cigarette up to his lips.

"No there isn't and don't you dare light that shit." I warn.

The cigarette is removed from Ryders lips. "Why not? Has smoking been banned while I've been missing?"

"No I don't want it lit in my office."

Abbie had given me an earache when I returned home from the club stinking of smoke. It had apparently made her cough.

The time read two in the morning, I was late coming home. As soon as I got into the house, I went straight to Abbie to check on her.

"What is that smell?" Abbie questioned as I got closer.

"What do you mean?"

Abbie started coughing. "You stink of smoke."

"I doubt the smell of smoke affects you that much." I rolled his eyes.

"It does and I don't like it."

"I'll keep it in mind." I huffs, walking out the room and locking the door.

"So what made you change your mind about it?" Ryder digs. "You even used to smoke in here yourself."

"Nothing. I just didn't want the smell in my office anymore."

"You're lying and we both know it. It's got something to do with that bitch at your house."

"I would watch it if I were you." I warned. "She is not a bitch and you will not call her one."

Ryder tensed in anger, raking his hand through his untamed mop. "You should have got rid of her when you were supposed to."

A snarl appeared on my face. "She's mine."

"You don't act like it; when was the last time you even had a conversation with her?"

"That's beside the point."

"It's not beside the point, you can't put a claim on a woman who you don't even like." Ryder argues.

I angrily stand up. "I tried being nice to her and look what happened; you got run over and nearly killed."

"That was an accident and if I didn't save her, she would be dead by now. Maybe it would save you all this trouble."

I stormed out from behind the desk and grabbed at Ryder, slamming his head down on the desk.

"Don't you dare talk like that about Abbie again." I grit out.

Ryders hands come out in a surrendering motion. "Jesus fuck man calm down."

A look of dismay crosses over my face, I rarely showed emotion in front of my men it made me more fearful that way.

"I'm going to leave. I'll let you think about what I have said." Ryder says, making his way out.

There wasn't any way that Abbie could be upset or bored. She had a TV and some books after all. Although I never asked if everything was okay.

I pulled his truck up at the front of the house, the time was only four thirty. I was home lot earlier than usual as the talk with Ryder had riled him up.

The house was quiet as usual apart from the quiet muttering coming from the TV. Abbie must have fallen asleep as she always turned it off when I arrived home. It was unknown why she always did it, never once had it been stated the TV had to be turned off when I arrived home. It must have been done as arguments wanted to be avoided.
