The footsteps approaching the bed was the only notice I had to Duke's arrival. Wiping the sleep from my eyes quickly, I reached for the TV remote and turned the screen off.

"Why do you always do that?" Duke questioned.

"Do what?"

"Turn the TV off as soon as I enter the house." He states. "I gave it to you for a reason, don't turn it off for my sake."

I averted my gaze down. "I'm sorry."

"There's no need to be sorry, just keep the TV on."

An awkward silence came between us. Duke usually left the room by now because there was nothing else to say. If anything he only came in after work to check I hadn't tried to escape. Recently the door had stopped being locked while he was out, I could only assume that it was a test.

"Let's go for a walk." He blurts out.

Shock covers my face. "What?"

"We're going to for a walk."

"I don't really have any walking shoes."

"It doesn't matter, come on."

Slipping on my vans that had seen better days, I started following behind Duke to see where we were going.

"You're not going to try and run off are you?" Duke questions, hesitating to open the door. "We all know what happened last time you tried that stunt."

"I won't run away." I reassure "I don't think I could bare sitting around with a swollen ankle again."

Duke chuckled to himself before opening the door. It had been so long since I had even set foot outside. A couple months at the least.

As I stepped outside, a huge intake a breath came out my mouth. Pure cold air filled my lungs, and I welcomed the feeling.

"You act like you've never seen the outside before." He comments.

"Not being able to leave that room for a while does take its toll. You forget about what it's like being outside."

"I see."

Duke continues walking ahead, not taking a moment to glance back at me. I struggled to keep up with his pace; he had long legs while I only had little legs.

Eventually I keeps up with his strides. "Why did you decide this?"

"Decide what?"

"To come on a walk." I start. "It's not like I have left your house in months. You're probably bored of having me there by now."

"So many questions." He groans.

"You might as well answer them." I nudge.

"I thought you might need some fresh air for the walk. I've noticed that you have been sticking your head out the window recently."

A deep red flush appears on my face. "What? How did you know that?"

Ever since Duke removed the locks from the windows after I promised I wouldn't try anything; I have spent more and more time getting as much fresh air as possible. Being stuck inside a stifling room all day was not something I usually did before having to stay with Duke.

"I have my ways." He chuckles. "Secondly, you got yourself locked in my house the moment you tried to steal from me and we both know that."

"I think I have learnt my lesson by now."

Duke's walking comes to a sudden halt and a thunderous expression takes over. "You clearly haven't learnt anything if you're still being this naïve. If you had gone to a Bratva owned club and pulled that stunt you would not make it out like you have now. They would either kill you right then and there or thrown you into a whore house for their own pleasure."
