Over absolute silence came three slow and gentle knocks. The one left to answer glares at the wooden floor with a distasteful look and grimaces in the realization of having to leave from under his bundle of blankets and become vulnerable to what brings him discomfort; the pitch darkness.

He wipes his eyes and his quavery voice calls out; "Just come in..." but the one outside responded: "Can't Kacchan, the door's locked... you gotta come here and unlock it."

The late-night visitor sounds exhausted. He's sure he hears a loose yawn echo in the hallway outside. Even aside from the guilt he feels, the tears on his face are undeniable. He comforts himself with the fact that making the effort to get up will grant him access to his comforting and throws a foot over the edge of the bed. Whimpers pick up as bare feet scurry over the cold floor towards the door. He nearly swings the door open and through the darkness, a messy-haired, tired but caring-looking classmate greets him with a strained smile.

They're yet to get used to physical touch from one another. Izuku has been visiting Katsuki's dorm often ever since about two months back; Katsuki hasn't been dealing well with an attack he was a part of that took place near Kamino, a place he's yet to get over "an irrational trauma" of. He's been offered therapy countless times and is only now attended his first-ever session due to it being a requirement his teacher laid out ever since. During the nights, however, Izuku has been his comfort.

He doesn't know why it's him that Katsuki chose to trust in such a moment of vulnerability. With Kirishima being a literal wall away from him, he's confused as to why Katsuki calls and texts Izuku to come and comfort him. From what Katsuki has brokenly said so far, in the long nights that he cries and vents to Izuku, some of the nightmares have "a weird stranger" that "doesn't look like anyone" he knows, but that "has the same vibes and feelings and personality" that Izuku has. Izuku has the growing suspicion that he's been making appearances in Katsuki's nightmares and dreams and that Katsuki is simply too afraid or embarrassed to confess it.

Nevertheless, Izuku sits through all of his fears as a shoulder to cry on. He likes it, he's seen it as an opportunity to bond with Katsuki again. He sees it as a method of mending the broken pieces that their relationship is back together in a healthy manner.

Tonight, Izuku has gotten two complaints in one short, typo-heavy text message.
"My body hurts" and what he knows is Katsuki's poor paranoid mind speaking: "I feel like I'm gonna be killed."

"Can I hug you?" Izuku asked as he set foot in the warmer room. He frowns at the room's exaggerated temperature and he knows that it's been made that way by Katsuki's intention.
Being in the heat makes Katsuki feel more empowered because of how his quirk relies on it. Surely enough, the teen is sweating profusely.

His eyes pour emotion after emotion in the shapes of heavy tears that only roll after previously escaped ones. He's guided back to his bed and Izuku doesn't stop him from curling back up in the blanket, though he does voice one concern.

"Kacchan, I really don't think you should be making yourself that hot-- It's okay, you need to cool off a bit."

He was surely cursed off for the suggestion.

"Your body hurts?" Izuku asked in a calmer tone. "Is there anything I can do?"

The questions were ignored and Katsuki effortlessly breaks Izuku's heart by constantly repeating his biggest fear and false suspicion; "I'm gonna be killed".
