Tom's POV
I let out a sigh as I take in another sip of lemonade. I had to have looked over this script ten times, and I still felt like I was doing the lines all wrong. Maybe it was the summer heat, I don't know, but all I did know is that no matter how I did my lines, I wasn't satisfied. Then again, at one point, satisfaction is not in my character's nature.
I put down the Coriolanus script, leaned back in my porch swing, and just looked up at the stars. They were so beautiful tonight. Because I run around a lot, it's rare for me to take a moment to appreciate the little things like this, that billions of miles away, something is burning, dying, shining. My eyes fix themselves on a pale blue light, shimmering away in the sky. It twinkles so elegantly that it brought a smile to my face. Then, my grin slowly faded away.
Why is the light getting bigger and brighter?
My eyes widened, and I ran back inside my house, racing down into the basement. Moments later, the ground shook, a thundering boom making the earth tremble and my ear ring. After a minute or two, I made my way back outside to inspect the damage.
That's when I saw it, a huge crater in my backyard.
I could feel the heat of the ground rise through my shoes, the object having traveled at a tremendous speed. I peer down into the crater and swallowed.
A woman?
I eased my way into the pit, worried that she was dead. I picked her up and carried her into the house. It wasn't until I laid her down in the guest bedroom that I realized what had happened. And when I did, I stopped dead in my tracks.
She's from Asgard. It's real.
***
I barely slept that night. The thoughts keep rummaging through my head, the shock still stinging my mind. It's real?! How can it be real?! I thought it was just a story!
I rise and go downstairs to eat. As I'm coming out of my room, I can hear rummaging in the guest bedroom. With a deep breathe, I go and knock on the door.
"Are you alright in there?"
"Who are you? In what realm am I?" There's a tremble in her voice, a sense of fear and danger.
"You're in MIdgard. I'm Tom. I'm not going to hurt you."
The door cracks open, and I'm greeted by one of her (e/c) eyes. When she sees I'm not armed, she opens the door wider. I didn't notice how pretty she was until then; my focus yesterday was to make sure she was alright.
"There now. I mean no harm."
"Midgard? So that's where he banished me?"
"Who did, my dear?"
"Odin." I smile, and she frowns, her face becoming angry. "I find no humor in this, why are you smiling?"
"We've heard so much about you and your realm, but we thought it was all pretend."
"I beg your pardon?!"
"Here, let me show you. Follow me." I lead her downstairs where my laptop is. I start to search for Norse mythology. She looks at my computer in wonder.
"What type of trickery is this?"
"It's a computer."
"What does it do?"
