Your POV
You groan as you lift yourself up from the bed. The past eight nights had been sleepless, and if you did manage to sneak in a hour of rest, you woke up with a migraine. Last night was no different. Your head was pounding as hard as your heart with each step you took down the stairs.
You survey the area. It was quieter than usual. You look at the clock, and it read 10:32. Tom didn't have to go to the work, and even if he did, he always took you. Your feet take you around the house, seaching each room, and finding nothing. Your eyes began to tear, your only friend you had left now leaving you all alone.
First Loki, now Tom.
You sit on the couch, scrunching up your feet and holding your knees close to you. You rest your cheek against them and close your eyes, half wishing that this was all a bad dream and that you would wake up in Asgard. But you knew better. You had done with all the nights before and were heartbroken each time.
You hear keys fumble at the door, and you pick up your head. The door swings open, and you freeze. The jet black hair, the green eyes, the suit. Your fading heartbeat started to pick up speed.
"Loki?" He shakes his head, and your eyes fall.
Tom.
He hands you the stuffed animal in his hand, a bunny with floppy ears, as if it were a peace offering.
"I went to the studio, and the director said I can take it home. At first I thought it might cheer you up, but then halfway home, I realized it could hurt you. So hopefully the bunny won't make you too upset with me." You smile, taking the stuffed animal in hand. All that week, when he wasn't working, he was trying his best to make you feel better. He had even introduced you to this treat, which had this soft, cloudlike food that he called marshmallows, and he heated it at the fireplace and put it with a sweet cracker and this thing called chocolate.
"We call this 'smores.'" You took a bite and immediately smiled.
"I like this a lot."
"Better than the chocolate pudding?" You laugh.
"I don't know, the desserts both seem excellent in taste."
It both scared and comforted you how much he and Loki were alike. He joked with you, tolerated your questions, and even asked you about your stories and your past. He did just about anything to smile. Two days prior, he took you to this place called a fair.
"I don't understand. What am I supposed to do?"
"Well, there's games we can play, lots of food to eat, rides to go on."
"Rides? Where do they lead to?" Tom smiles and takes my hand.
"They're on a track that takes you back to where you started. We can go on one together so you see what I mean."
You very much enjoyed that roller coaster, and later than even, he took you on a ferris wheel.
"This ride is special," he says as you make your way toward a giant, standing metal wheel.
"And why is that?" He blushes and starts to stammer.
"Well...for one thing...the higher you go up, the more you can see of the land." You take his hand.
"Show me." Minutes later, you find yourself in a cart with him at the top of the wheel. He points out to the ground, hundreds of feet below you and miles away.
"That's the house," he notes, you nodding.
"I see. You weren't lyring. It's beautiful up here." He looks to you and smiles softly. You look back at him, you feeling at peace for the first time since your banishment.
"Are you....happy here with me?"
"Yes." His smile grows.
"I'm glad."
You felt regret for lying to him, and he must have still sensed your broken state. Maybe that's why he went the extra mile for today. You push his hair back behind his ear, and he looks cautiously into your eyes.
"(Y/N)? Please be honest with me." You nod. "Is there anything more that I can do? It hurts seeing you so miserable."
"Tom, you've already done so much, and for that I'm forever grateful."
"I just want you to be happy." It wasn't until then that you saw the real hurt that was in his eyes, which pleaded only for you. Tom stroked underneath your eyes with his long fingers, and from his touch, you could feel his strain, how he was holding himself back from never letting you go. You hold his cheeks in your hands, feeling the blood rush to his cheeks. All this time of waiting for a miracle, you hadn't taken the time to realize the one you already had. You were getting a new beginning, a second chance at love.
I just want you to be happy too.
You brought his head down to you, planting your lips onto his. Instantly, Tom melted into you, wanting this moment just as much as you did. He left you breathless, holding your hips closer to him.
"(Y/N), I--"
"Shh. No talking." He smiled against your lips and kissed them even more tenderly.
Neither of you two noticed the frost giant watching from the window. He was frozen, emotionless as Tom fixed your broken heart. Deeming you happy, with a smile, he beamed back to Asgard to start his life without you.
