You sat at the window and read. It was raining and gloomy, but that was one of the best weathers to read in. But you couldn't help but keep looking from your book to the man that lies on the couch.
He had destroyed New York City, where you had grown up. You stumbled upon him in an abadoned lot, which you were cutting through to get home, and he had spared your life when you neither fled or fought him. All you did was look at him, and you didn't back down from his powerful stance.
"Why do you not flee?" Loki questioned, coming closer. "Why do you not fight? Why do you not fear me?"
"I've always believed in neutrality," you replied calmly. "War is not the answer."
He had scoffed you off, not wanting to waste his time on you. But he soon was defeated and soon transported back to Asgard. It was almost two years until you saw him again as you were walking home. You had accidently bumped into him.
"Don't I know you?" he had said, peering into your eyes. You didn't say anything, knowing how many lives he had mercilessly taken. "Yes, you're the peace girl."
"I thought you went back to where you came from."
Loki laughed at you. "Are you scared? Do you think I'm going to hurt you?"
"Are you?" you asked, still calm.
His face turns serious, your collected state challenging his control. You smile.
"You never had a girl, a civillian, stand up to you before?"
Loki had enough, grabbing you by the throat and slamming you against the wall. Underneath the street light, you could see his pale skin turn blue, his hands becoming ice cold and his eyes a fiery red. But you did not scream like he wanted. You just looked at him, and when he saw you had no fear, his furrowed eyebrows and furious eyes softened and you smirked. He dropped you, and you hit the ground. You caught your breath as he backed up.
"Who are you?"
"(Y/N)."
"Are you human?"
"Yes, very much human."
He left you there, walking away.
The next week, you had been jumped as you came from the library, and Loki was there to save you, he fighting in his blue form. When he sent the jumpers off running, he had turned to you.
"Are you alright?" You nodded. "Good."
He walked you home in silence, and although safe, you felt uncomfortable.
You would see him watching over you more and more, in the alleys, in the windows, from the other side of the street.
The last time you had seen him was by accident. You were walking home, and you heard someone crying in the alley. You knew it wasn't necessarily smart, but you were too moved by pity, so you went in, using the flashlight on your cellphone for sight.
"Hello? Are you alright in there?"
There was a figure sitting in the corner, and when they turned around, you saw his face.
