"Are you sure this is going to work?"

"Of course it is," Loki says as he picks up the vial.  "Now it's perfect."  For weeks now, he's been trying to crack the code for invincibility, trying to become better, faster, stronger.  He's peered through his mother's trick books, the library's, but all the information has been in bits and pieces.  And he's made it his mission to complete the puzzle, to help you, a mortal, become like him.

Loki starts to hand you the vial, but you shake your head.

"I'm not drinking that.  Not this time."

        "And why not?"

"Welll first of all, it's smoking from the top."  Loki looks at the vial again, and, indeed, mist was forming from the green liquid and coming out the glass.

        "Your point?"

"And the last time I drank one of your vials like that, I was a mermaid for a week!"

"And what's so wrong with that?"

"I missed the royal ball because I was confined to the waters!"  Loki chuckles.

"Well I can assure you that you wouldn't be missing anything this time, not even if you were changed for a month."  You shake your head and cross your arms.

"I'm not taking any chances."  His eyebrows furrow.

"Fine!  I'll drink it myself!"  You laugh, not believing he would do it.  "I'm serious! If I drink it and it comes out okay, will you?"

You motion with your hand to have him proceed.  "Be my guest."

"Fine!"  He downs the green liquid in one gulp, throws the glass vial onto the floor, and folds his arms while staring at you angrily.

"See, you mortal?  Nothing bad happ--"

He's interrupted by green smoke surrounding him.  You stand back, the fumes intoxicating your lungs.  With a cough, you try to wave the smoke away.  Once it clears, instead of your best friend standing in front of you, a black cat, with green eyes.  You burst out laughing, and the cat's eyes narrow.  He attempts to speak, but when it comes out in a chorus of meows, he quickly silences, astonished at the thoroughness of the curse.

"I would gloat and rub it in that I was right," you say, crouching down, "but I think you got the message."  You pet him, and he mews.

"Hey, (Y/N)!" you hear a voice come behind you.  You spin around, and strolling through the hallways is Fandral.  Bashful, you back against a nearby column.  He was the heartthrob of Asgard, especially being part of the Warriors Three.

"Hi, Fandral."  He scans you with his eyes.

"Even in human clothes, your beauty radiates."  Blush comes to your cheeks.  You both hear a meow, Loki coming out from behind your legs.  Fandral smiles and kneels down.

"Is this little guy yours?"  You look down as Fandral goes to pet Loki.

"I'm watching him for a friend," you respond, trying your best not to lie.  But Loki was having no part of the cordialities, instantly trying to claw and scratch at the warrior, who is taken back.

"He doesn't seem to like me very much."  You pick up Loki, who retracts his claws.

"He's a fiesty one," you say, then look into Loki's eyes, "who needs to learn to be nice."  Fandral doesn't see Loki stick out his tongue at you.  You turn the cat around as you craddle him in your arms.
