I woke up having no idea what was going to happen. I made myself ready and waited for Jace to come to pick me up. We went out together and spotted Christina who was waiting facing the other direction. I shortly catch her attention by greeting her and we make our way to the parking lot.
The ride to the police station felt weird. Nobody said anything and the tension between the three of us was rising, or so I thought. The only positive thing that I could look up to at the time was the fact that I was going to see my father afterwards.
We arrive at the station and Jace parks the car in front of it. I turn my head back to face Christina that was sitting in the back of the car.
"You are going to tell them everything you know and report sexual assault." I demand without realising.
"Yeah I know you fucking told me that yesterday." she replies annoyed.
"Oh shut up." I feel my rage rising.
"Right, let's get out and go inside." Jace interrupts us, trying to break the tension.
We do as we are told by Jace and enter the building. There are many policemen in the facility, many rushing in different directions while holding papers in their hands. We approach the information centre and inform the lady about our concern. She tells us to wait until we are called up and we do as we are told.
Twenty minutes of impatient waiting and suddenly Christina is called up.
"I can't wait for this day to be over." I remark and break the silence.
"Neither can I." Jace relates and lets out a sigh.
Almost thirty minutes pass and Christina approaches us and the policeman beside her calls my name, signalling that I should follow him. I stand up and go with him into a room with only a small table and two chairs. We sit down and the man takes out the papers out of his yellow folder.
"You are Bella Anderson, right?" he asks while keeping his eyes on the documents.
"Correct." I shortly answer.
"And you had an accident with Richard Wilson on the Friday night, 18th of October, is that so?" he questions, wanting me to confirm it.
"Accident? Not sure if that is the right word for it, but sure we'll go with that." I answer and realise that I might have sounded harsh.
"Alright, why don't you tell me what happened then?" he asks and grabs his black pen.
"Sure. Well, it was dark and I just arrived at my college and wanted to make my way into the facility when suddenly I saw Christina Scott and that man Richard walk by and I first decided to ignore them but then I heard Christina's voice and wanted to find out what was going on out of my curiosity." I say this and see him note stuff down rapidly. "After I found them, Christina was pushed to the wall by him and he was grabbing her neck with both of his hands, making it imposible for her to breathe properly. And so I stepped in and fought him off which resulted in him stabbing my leg." I add and stay silent for a while, signalling that I was done speaking.
"Right, and did you attack him suddenly or how did you approach him?" he noted down the last word on the paper and looked at me.
"No, as soon as I saw him abusing her, I told him to let her go two times before I attacked him." I say and cringe at my choice of words.
The officer carefully analyses my facial expression. "Miss Scott said that Mister Wilson was under no alcohol or drug consume, would you confirm that?" he continues.
"Yes." I say without being sure but if he was to be high or drunk, I would have noticed.
"Were you aware that Miss Scott was being abused before the incident?" he questions.
"No." I keep my answers short and clear.
"Had you ever encountered Mister Wilson before?"
"No, never."
After a couple of back and forth questions, the policeman thanks me and allows me to leave. I see Jace, Christina and my dad sitting on the bench, all distracted. My dad suddenly lifts up his head and sees me. He stands up immediately and hugs me.
"Hey dad." I say and smile while hugging him back.
"Is everything ok?" he asks and I nod in response. He takes a careful look at my leg and slightly shakes his head. I smile in order to reassure him that it did not hurt. We leave the station and go to the parking lot. There, we split up and Jace and Christina drive away together because my father wanted to eat lunch with me before he left again. He drove here in my car, so that I did not have to go home and drive from there by myself. I thank him and we step in the car, making our way to the city to find a nice restaurant.
We find a cozy place to eat and order food as soon as we settle down. Not too long later, we are given our meal and told to enjoy it.
"I already informed my lawyer and he will come to the trial." he says while munching on his French fries.
"Christina's lawyer has to start the dispute first." I answer.
"I know, sweetie." he says and takes a bite out of his burger. "How has uni been so far?" he asks.
"Very good to be honest. I enjoy every class and my modules are great too." I answer honestly.
"That is great to hear. Elizabeth has been asking about you." he mentions.
I don't really like Elizabeth but in comparison to her daughter, she is a better human. That didn't make me like her and accept her as a step mother though.
"Why that?" I ask and lift an eyebrow.
"She missed having you in the house." he says and sounds like defending her.
"Doesn't she have an own daughter to miss?" I question.
"Who, Sara? She hasn't been home in weeks, according to Elizabeth, she is staying with her boyfriend. She did come one time though but I was at work and turns out she just borrowed money from her mother." he explains and proves my point.
We finish our food, pay for it and head out of the restaurant. Afterwards, we walk for a while, talking about various things and as it got darker, my father decided to head back home. I drove back to my campus and went to my room. I took a shower and packed my stuff for tomorrow.
Finally, I started listening to music and texted Amy after realising that the last time I had spoken to her was a week or so ago. After a while of texting, I say goodnight to her and go to bed.
