"I wish I just knew her a little bit more, you know?" I ask Amy.
"I know exactly what you mean, but the only thing you can do here is to wait a little more" she suggests.
"It has already been three weeks" I say and look at her over the video chat.
"And have you noticed anything suspicious?" she questions.
"Well yes but I don't know if any of that has something to do with the party" I admit. I have noticed strange behaviour of her. She always carries her black leather bag around which she checks every other second.
"I'd say that you wait a little more and see if you can get any more signs or information" she smartly proposes.
"Will do" I assure her. "So how have you been doing so far?" I ask her about university.
"Great. Just a little more learning than we had in school." she answers.
"Yeah, no kidding. I also have so much work to do but it is doable, I just have to put my time in it and pressure myself" I tell her.
"So when are you planning on coming here?" she asks.
"I don't know" I giggle.
"Oh please. On the weekend maybe?" she looks at me.
"I won't be able to make it this weekend" I state.
"Next weekend then" she says.
"Alright, I will call my dad and let him know" I plan.
"Great, I'll talk to you later then" she says goodbye.
"Talk to you later" I say and hang up. As soon as I put my phone down, I focus on the papers lying on my desk.
Jace's POV
"I have so much work to do" I whine about my essay.
"I am almost done with mine" Ty says.
"Where are we going tonight?" I ask about our plans that I forgot about.
"I think Lana said that we would go to club 21" he answers while putting his shoes on.
"Alright, where are you going?" I ask as I see him looking at him in the mirror.
"I am going to meet up with Lana" he responds.
"Alone?" I question.
"Yes" it takes him a hesitation to respond.
I stare at him waiting for him to explain more. He finally turns around and faces me.
"I think I am starting to like her" he admits which isn't a shock for me at all. I had noticed the way he had been acting around her. He was paying more attention to her and desperate to get to know her better.
"Well no shit" I tease and smirk.
"You knew?" he looks surprised.
"Ty, how long have I known you for?" I ask him.
"Seriously?" he seems to pick up on where I was going with the question.
"Fam, I know you very well, so don't be surprised" I assure him. "Does Bella know?" I ask.
"No, I don't think she does" he answers confidentially. "Unless Lana told her" I sense the insecurity in his voice.
"Do you really like her though?" I suddenly question.
"I am not sure yet" he answers. "I'm going to be late" he nervously points out.
"Go" I hype him up and he rushes out of the door.
Bella's POV
"Hey dad, how are you?" I greet him.
"I'm fine honey, what about you?" he asks.
"I'm great. So, listen, I will make it quick. I just wanted to let you know that I will be picking up my car next weekend" I inform him.
"That sounds amazing" he gets happy.
"Or maybe even this weekend, I'm not sure" I say.
"Whenever you want, honey" he quietly responds.
"Thank you, I have to go, bye" I say goodbye.
"See you" he says and hangs up.
A little while later, a knock on my door interrupts me and I snap out of my learning mode. I open the door and see Jace standing right in front of me.
"Hey" I greet him and let him in.
"What were you doing?" he asks as he takes a seat on my bed.
"I was just working on this one assignment" I say and point at my desk.
"I thought I would just come by because I needed a distraction from my work. I have been working on my essay for many hours now" he says and I find myself relating to it too much.
"So relatable" I tell. "Do you know where Ty is? I haven't seen him all day today" I suddenly remind myself. Hearing this question, he stays frozen and blushes just a little.
"I think he just wanted to meet with some guy friends of his" he looks a little stressed but also confident enough to make me buy it.
"Why didn't you go?" I ask since they almost always go to places together.
"Those are his old friends that I don't really get along with" he explains. I don't know anything about Ty's old friends but I choose not to overthink it and let it go.
"Do you mind if I continue working?" I politely ask him.
"Yes" he says. Not being sure if I heard him right, I turn to face and notice the smirk on his face.
"What?" I ask smiling.
"I said that I would mind if you were to continue working" he precisely explains. "Let's just take a little break, we both deserve it" he stands up and moves in my direction.
"Let me just finish my statement then" I say and face my desk.
In a matter of seconds, Jace runs to the table and closes my laptop. As I reach to the papers lying on the desk, Jace grabs my hand and gently pushes it away. Next, he gathers my papers together and takes them in his right hand.
"What are you doing?" I ask him in a calm tone.
"Getting rid of you work" he smiles and throws the thin pile of paper in the air. The papers separate from each other and fall down one by one like confetti. Instead of getting mad, I burst in laughter and feel joyful for the first time today. The negative and stressful energy leaves my body, leading me to feel free.
"Why would you do that? Who will pick that up?" I whine, not being able to stop smiling.
"Don't worry" he says.
Ty's POV
"If Bella somehow gets informed about this, we are both dead. She can be just as angry as she is sweet, trust me" I tell Lana.
"So, what do we do then? I mean it is not like we are out here doing something illegal" she convinces herself.
"You're not wrong, but I still feel like betraying my best friend. She is everything to me, I have to be honest with her" I admit. Bella is way too important to me, I wouldn't trade her for anybody, not even for a girlfriend. I can't decide if I like Lana that much to tell Bella about it though.
