I have no idea how I am able to drive for 30 minutes non stop with this much stress and panic but I finally arrive at dad's, which is followed by me parking the car and rushing to knock on the door.
"Where is the money?" I ask as soon as I enter the house.
"It's right here. Sweetie, I need to know what's going on first." he says and touches my arm in order to help me sit down on the armchair but I drag his hand away.
"Dad, I have no time to do so. I just need to grab the money and go save Amy before your lover's daughter shoots her dead in the head." I yell at him unintentionally.
The frustration in his eyes widen and he takes the phone of my other hand to take a look at the address that Sara had sent me from an unknown number. "It's almost a two hour drive there." is the only thing that he can utter out of shock.
I suddenly feel my head spin and decide to sit down before I fall on the ground. Noticing this, my dad rushes to the kitchen, when a second later the door opens and Elizabeth enter the corridor. She announces that she's home and enters the living room a moment after.
At the sight of me, she drops her purse at takes steps towards the armchair. Dad enters the room with a tall glass of water in his hand and hands it to me.
She kneels down in front of me and puts her hands on my thighs, which sends a shiver through my whole body. "Bella, are you okay?" she asks me but I don't respond. She turns her head to my dad, who is standing right behind her with his eyes fixated on me. "John, what happened to her?" she asks her hands still resting on my thighs.
"Your junkie daughter happened, that's what's up." I speak and catch her attention as she quickly faces me again and stands up right after I push her hands away from my legs.
"Excuse me?" she asks confused.
"She's holding Amy hostage." dad explains and to this her jaw drops.
"What?" is the only reaction that she can give.
She takes a seat on the sofa and takes her head in the palm of her hand. "This can't be real. What do you even mean Sara is holding her hostage?"
"Does it look like we are in the mood to joke?" I say rudely and focus on my dad who is still standing in the middle of the room.
"I think it's best if we come with you." my dad suggests and I feel my heart beat race.
"No, she told me to come alone. Trust me, as weak and dumb she is, that is not a meaningless warning. It means I do need to come completely alone. The only thing I will be taking with me is the money." I make it clear.
I can't have my dad or Elizabeth come with me as I simply can't risk their lives.
I stand up and make my way to the corridor to get ready to leave the house. "Dad, I need the money right now." I say one last time and my dad wastes no time as he rushes to his bedroom. A moment later he returns with a black bag in his right hand.
I take it from him and notice the weight of it. I pat on myself and feel my car keys in my pockets. One last look at my dad is what it takes me to open the door and leave the house.
I put the bag on the passenger seat and start the engine. The drive to the location is long and filled with my father's calls who is more than worried and offered me to catch up with me many times. However, I denied his offers over and over again because him and I both dying on the same day, at the same time is not very flattering.
Being very focused on the road, I can't quit thinking about what is awaiting me once I arrive. I do expect the very worst though. What I don't expect is to make it out alive after seeing Sara.
I arrive at the place, which looks like a giant grey barn but with no windows to be seen. I feel my stomach turn at the sight of the location and feel the sudden need to throw up, however I get out of the car and open the bag with the money to make sure that it is still there. Digging through the stacks of money, I happen to find a pistol at the very bottom.
I take it in my slightly shaking hand and stare at in shock. Why did my father not tell me anything about this gun and why was it even in here? Did he think I might need it to shoot someone? Did he even know that this was in here? What is going on?
With a confused face and a slight panic attack, I close the bag and hide the gun in the back of my jeans, not knowing if it will be of any use once I step into the place. I start walking around the barn and finally find a big door that leads inside.
I take a deep breath for the last time and decide to open the door without thinking about what's going to happen to me once I step in.
