I walk into my room and sit on my bed. My muscles relax and the heavy weight inside me vanishes into the sheets. After a moment, I stand up and walk to the window. The clouds look like cotton candy due to their pink color and they blend in with the baby blue sky. It feels like I could watch the sky forever while dreaming about impossible things that would never happen in life. I suddenly snap out of my thoughts and turn my back to the window facing my room. My unfolded clothes on the chair catch my attention and I take three steps in the direction to clean up the mess. I slowly fold my shorts and put them in my wardrobe. Suddenly my phone rings and I rush to my bed to pick it up. I see Amy's name on the screen and pick up the call immediately.
"What's up?" I ask as soon as I put my phone on my ear.
"Nothing much. What about you?" she asks.
"I was just tiding my room. Are you outside?" I question after hearing people's voices in the background.
"Yeah, I just got a smoothie and now I'm going back to uni" she answers. "You won't believe whom I just saw" she says surprised.
"Who?" I ask not having any clue about who it could have been.
"Sara" she gasps.
"Roberts?" I ask as my eyes widen at the mention.
"Yes sir" she giggles.
"No way!" I almost scream.
Sara Roberts is my so-called step sister. After my mom died, my father looked after me alone till I was twelve years old. Then he met Elizabeth Roberts, Sara's mother. When I turned sixteen, Elizabeth and Sara moved in with us. I never liked Sara but for my dad's sake, I kept quiet and didn't complain. From the first day I knew her, she hated me and was very evil to me. I thought that we could make friends but she always backed up from me. She is a trouble kid too. I remember how she would fight with her mother in the middle of the night for coming home very late and drunk. Sometimes, she would sneak in a friend and they would get high together in her room. Her taking drugs had a negative impact on me as I sometimes stole different kinds of drugs from her. After that, I also got high and drunk but only at parties. She was an unhealthy influence for me but it didn't make me a bad person. To this day, we don't speak to each other and have no contact with one another whatsoever. I pretty much hate her but thanks to university I don't have to live with her anymore. I would sometimes sneak out of the window in the middle of the night and come back at midday so I didn't have to see her.
"Did you two talk?" I ask worried.
"No, but she looked at me very weird" my best friend tells.
"Stay away from that fucking addict" I demand without noticing the anger in my voice.
"Calm down, there is nothing to worry about" she giggles.
"Wait, I thought she moved out of town with her ugly boyfriend" I suddenly remember. Sara moved away a little while before I headed off to university.
"That is what I thought. I wonder what she is doing here" she questions.
"She is probably out of money and came there to take some from my father" I suppose.
"Are you sure?" she questions my assumption.
"What else would that sick fuck want here? She is a fucking problem for everyone and she knows it damn well. I bet she doesn't work and her little boyfriend neither, so they are basically homeless. She hates us and her mom, so there is no reason for her to be here unless she needs money" I get aggressive.
"You may be right" she agrees with me. "So, have you got any plans for tonight?" she changes the subject.
"Yes, me, Lana and the boys are going to the cinema" I answer.
"Who is Lana?" she asks irritated.
"She is this girl in my economics class, I just met her today" I explain.
"Nice, but cinema? You agreed?" she sounds surprised. Amy knows me too well to know that I would never want to go to a cinema unless I have a date which I have also never had.
"Yeah, the guys said it will be fun, so I thought why not" I state.
"Good for you" she says in a happy tone.
"What about you?" I question her.
"I will go out with some people and then return home and relax" she talks about her plans.
"Did your day go well?" I ask about her first day. Sadly she didn't get accepted into Oxford but I have another best friend here, so I am not alone.
"It was exciting, I met new people and my professors and so far everything is going well" she explains precisely.
"That sounds great. I will go take a nap now, I am kind of tired. Talk to you later" I suddenly say as my eyes almost close.
"Have fun, alright?" she asks.
"I will" I assure her.
"Bye" she says and I say the same before hanging up. I set my alarm and turn on the volume of my phone. After putting it on the side table I lay down and close my eyes.
The ringtone of my phone wakes me up. I grab my phone thinking it is my alarm but once my vision clears, I see Lana's name on the screen.
"Hello?" I ask confused.
"Are you ready?" she asks right away.
"Dude, there is an hour left till we head out" I say in a sleepy voice.
"Were you sleeping?" she acts surprised.
"Yes and you woke me up" I joke. She laughs happily at my response.
"Get your butt out of bed and I'll be there in five minutes with some tea for you" she demands.
"Okay" I say and hang up the phone. I stand up and pick some clothes to put on later. Within two minutes I hear a knock on my door. I open the door and see Lana with a cup of tea in her hands. She is wearing a white top with pink skirt made out of cotton. I greet her and she enters the room and takes a seat on the chair.
"This is for you" she hands me the cup.
"Thank you" I smile and take a sip.
"What will you wear?" she asks. I show her the mom jeans, white pullover and bucket hat. Her eyes widen and she raises her brows.
"What?" I question her unexpected reaction.
"You are going to wear that?" she asks.
"Yes, what do you want me to wear? A dress?" I mock. She raises her shoulders not knowing what to answer.
"It is not a date for fuck's sake" I joke. She laughs loudly and her head falls back because of laughter.
I put on my clothes and jewellery and do my make up which is mostly unnoticeable.
"I will look like a boy next to you, but it is ok" I tease.
"You look more gorgeous than I do, what are you talking about?" she giggles. By the time I drink up my tea, Ty texts me saying they are waiting for us. Lana and I grab our bags and head outside.
