I roll down the windows and press on the gas pedal, increasing the speed. I stick my hand out of the window. It fights against the strong wind blowing towards it. I stop at red and quickly pull out my phone and put in the aux. I tap on my playlist, letting the songs shuffle.
The first song comes on and start humming to it, whiel playing its beat with tapping on my steering wheel. I drive for 40 minutes before I arrive right infront of Amy's house.
I park the car in the garage and turn off the engine. Afterwards, I get out of the car and take my suitcase. When looking at the sky, I notice that it is dark. I press the button on my car key and hear a click, signalling that my doors are closed.
I walk to the door and press the bell. I wait for a couple of seconds until the door is opened and Amys's face is revealed.
She smiles for a second before screaming in a high pitched voice, expressing her happiness. She covers her mouth with her hand and takes one last look at my face before hugging me tighly.
"Hey" I finally get the chance to greet her with words.
"Hi, Bel" she says and lets me in. I drag my suit case with me and leave it in the hallway.
I walk further in the house and see Amy's mom standing in the kitchen. It looks like she is preparing food. She turns her head to face me as soon as I enter the kitchen.
"Oh my god, Bella." she smiles and puts the knife in her hand away and comes to me and gives me a tight hug.
"How are you darling?" she asks.
"I'm fine, thank you." I reply nicely.
She takes me by hand and gestures me to twirl. "God, look at you, you look so incredible." she compliments me.
All I do is smile at her and try to express my gratitude.
"Girls, I baked a pizza and made a cake, the kettle is hot, so make yourselves some tea. I have to go right now, to get some groceries, I will be back in an hour or two." she informs us.
We just nod and watch her as she takes her car keys from the kitchen counter, grabs her jacket and puts her shoes on before leaving.
"Are you hungry?" Amy asks.
"No, but I want to eat that cake." I say and Amy laughs loudly, knowing that that was the response I was going to come up with.
We make ourselves some tea and cut a big slice of cake each. We settle down on the sofa in the living room and turn on the tv.
"How are things going at uni?" Amy asks while keeping her eyes on the screen.
"Good, I'm just glad I came here, I kind of needed a break." I state.
"How's Henry?" she asks me with a wide smile on her face. It's like she is expecting me to tell her something special.
"Fine." I say this, knowing that she will give off a funny reaction.
"Fine? What do you mean fine?" she questions and lifts her eyebrow.
"Okay, he may or may not have asked me to go New York with him on winter break but that's besides the point." I say and this almost makes her spit out the tea in her mouth.
"He what?" my best friend opens her eyes wide and look at me with shock. "Well, what did you tell him?" she asks.
"I said that I'd think about it. I didn't know what to say, it was so random." I explain. "What do you think?" I ask for her opinion.
Amy always has the best advice and I'm sure she can help me out with this one too.
"Well, do you want to go?" she asks.
"That's the problem, Amy, I don't even know it myself."
Amy puts her cup on the table in front of her and turns her body posture to me. "Is he at least nice?" she questions.
"Definitely." I answer honestly.
"Well then, you have nothing to lose, I guess." she states.
"I just hesitated because I haven't known him for long." I clear up.
"Yeah, I figured." she says. Of course she did, that's Amy I'm talking to. "I think you should go. From what you've told me so far, he seems like a cool guy and I think you guys will have a good time." she continues.
I think about what she just said and realize that she is not wrong. Even though Henry is a new friend, he's always acted like a person I've known for a long time. Well...mostly.
"Well, if you say so." I say.
"I don't just say so, I know so." she interrupts me and gives me a serious look before we both burst in laughter.
After a minute of silence I decide to ask her the questions she just tortured me with.
"So why don't you tell me about that crush of yours, huh?" I tease and she blushes.
"Let's go to my room, I'll tell you there." she answers, sounding like a secret detective. But that's how Amy is, whenever she wants to gossip, she always drags me to her room.
We get up and pick up our plate and cup and head to the kitchen. There we place it in the dishwasher. Before going to her room, Amy grabs a bottle of red wine and two glasses.
"Got your favourite." she says and I smile widely at the sight of my favourite brand.
We head to her room and sit on the bed. Amy has a double king size bed which is my favourite part this whole house. We sit down and my best friend opens the bottle. She hands me my bottle and fills the glass slightly beneath the top and then pours some for herself. She places the bottle on the black nightstand beside her bed and takes a sip before facing me.
"Okay, you can start talking now." I say and crack a smile.
"So, his name is Asher. He is in one of my classes and he is like such a sweet guy." she talks with passion in her eyes.
"Mhm." I mumble while gulping down the wine but listening to every single word of hers closely.
"And he sits just beside me, he has been since day one. We've hung out a lot since we've known each other and he introduced me to his group of friends. Isn't that cute?" she says like a little.
"I'm this close to throwing up so no." I say and bring my thumb and index finger together, leaving a tiny space in between to emphasize my sentence even more.
To this she lets out a laugh, not taking it personally.
"So what's so special about this Asher guy then?" I ask and finish my glas, then pointing at the bottle on the nightstand behind her and pour all the liquid in the glas in my hand.
"I don't know, he has a great personality and he is fun to be around, you know?" she asks.
"Yeah, I understand that." I respond honestly. "But are you really in love with him or is it just a little crush?" I ask her to figure out what her situation is.
"I don't really know for sure. I guess it will take time until I've figured it out completely." she admits.
"Will he be at the party tomorrow?" I ask because I start wondering what he looks like.
She puts down her glass. "Yeah, he told me he'll come."
"Well, I sure hope he does."
She laughs loudly and pushes me, almost making me spill the liquid in my glas. Then she laughs eve louder after realizing, we would be changing the white bed sheets if it wasn't for my ability to stay somewhat balanced at that moment.
We hear the locks of the front door make a click.
"I'm home." Amy's mother loudly announces and lets us know she arrived.
The rest of the night we spend watching a tv show and a little after midnight, Amy falls asleep. I get up and grab my suitcase that I had forgotten in the hallway and place it in our room. I change my clothes and grab my toiletry bag and head to the bathroom.
There I quickly brush my teeth and face and head back to the bedroom. I take a look at my phone and turn it off at the sight of no important messages.
