Chapter 4

Hi I simply say into the speaker.

Bella! Hi, how are you? she sounds very happy to hear from me. Although, its been only couple of days, Ive missed her a little bit.

Amy is my best friend. We have been friends for 12 years. We went to the elementary and high school together. I was sad when I had to leave to university but being the best friend, she is, she supported me and told me that it was all going to be fine. I cant wait to visit her soon.

Im very well, how are you? I ask her impatiently.

Im good, thank you. How is everything? Ive been dying to hear from you she laughs. Her laugh makes me laugh as well.

So far, Im liking it here. Ive already settled in. My room is very cozy, I need to buy some stuff to decorate it though I explain my best friend.

Im so glad. So, what have you been doing since yesterday? she asks curiously.

Well, I had dinner first and then Ty showed me around a little I explain and then I just hung out with him and his roommate I add.

Roommate? What is he like? Is he cute? she bombards me with her questions.

You know I have no idea when it comes to these kinds of stuff I tell her.

Dang it she replies and starts laughing. Where are you? Its a little noisy she states.

Im at a diner right now

With Jace? I can imagine her smirking at the other end of the phone.

Yes. Ty is here too. We are going to a party today I inform my best friend.

Party sounds fun. Try to put on something cute, itll catch some attention she tells.

Our food is soon brought to us and Jace and Ty start eating.

Like I need it I giggle.

Of course you do, you are the new one, you have to make some friends and meet new people she utters.

I will, dont worry I announce.

Call me after the party, I want to know all the good stuff she teases.

Sure thing I mumble the words.

I put my phone down on the table and see Ty smile and stare at me.

What? I ask him.

That was a long call he chuckles.

What? No, it wasnt. She just wanted to know the details. I explain him.

You dont say he teases.

Shut up I tease back.

This food is really good I say after a short moment of silence. I have a quesadilla with French fries on my plate. Ty has ordered a burger, just like Jace.

Thats why we brought you here Jace says with a big smile on his lips. I smile back and look down at my plate again.

When is the party going to end? My dad wants to call me in the evening and I have to make sure I am in the campus by then. I state with a worried face. I dont want my dad to think that I am wasting my time here. Going to a party is not a waste of time, but my dad wouldnt get it.

They usually party till four or five in the morning, but we dont stay there that long of course. When exactly is he going to call? Ty asks me for more information.

I dont even know. He just said he would call me in the evening and if he calls me while Im at the party, Im dead I respond.

Why? Jace asks and I freeze for a moment. Has he never heard of strict parents?

Because he is going to think that I am getting drunk and doing inappropriate stuff when Im not. And then I will be in trouble. I explain with a little anger in my voice.

Damn is his only reaction.

After thinking for a minute, I come up with an idea. I should call him right know and let him know that everything is fine.

You know what? Ill call him right know. Ill just tell him that I will be busy and that I wont be available I share my idea with the boys.

And why exactly are you busy? Ty questions and I realize that I havent thought about that.

Ill say that Im going out with you two, it is better than saying that Im going to a party, right? I sound unsure.

I guess so. Ty answers. Him also not being sure makes me more nervous.

I grab my phone and call my father. I look nervously around the diner while holding my phone onto my ear and waiting for my dad to pick up. He picks up on the fourth ring.

Bella? he asks in a strange way.

Hey dad I greet him.

Hi honey he greets back.

How are you? Is everything ok? I question him to make sure he is alright.

Yes. What about you? I didnt expect a call from you. So, this is why he asked if it was me at the beginning.

I know. I just called because I wanted to let you know that, I wont be available tonight. You wanted to call me in the evening, remember? I try to make my statement clear.

Oh yeah, I did. So, what are you doing then? he asks immediately.

Im going out with Ty and Jace. We are going ice skating. I say and immediately look up to both of them. They are smiling big and Ty even starts to laugh but covers his mouth straight away.

Alright. Where are you right now? he asks very quickly.

Im at a diner with them right now I answer truthfully.

Thats cool. When are you coming back then?

I dont know but I guess around 11 and I will go to bed right after I respond while preparing myself for the next possible question.

Well. Have fun then, sweetie. Is everything else alright? he adds another question.

Yeah dad, everything is great. Im loving it here I say to decrease his concern.

Dont stay up too late, tomorrow will be your first day, you have to start off fresh. he reminds me as if I need to hear that.

Dont worry dad I assure him.

Since I wont call again today, I will text you tomorrow morning to wish you all the best his words make me realize how much of a caring dad he is and the thought of that makes me smile instantly.

Ok dad I say.

Go have fun sweetie, bye

Bye I say and hang up the phone.

Well, what did he say? Jace asks.

He bought it but I feel really bad though I sigh for lying to him I finish my sentence.

You will tell him that later, okay? Ty requests.

Ok I sigh and take a bite out of my quesadilla.

We have only two hours left, we can go back and hang out a little and then go to the party Jace suggests. I finish my food and pay for it. Shorty after, we leave the place and make our way back to the campus.
