The horn was blown and every warrior hurried to get ready. Adriel and Athena strapped their swords onto their backs before walking out. The commander informed her people down below that it was time and they all let a series of cheers.

They had started their march towards the mountain. At the front of the army walked Lexa, Clarke, and Adriel. Anagosta and Athena marched with Indra and Octavia somewhere in the middle.

Indra and Anagosta made small talk about the war. Discussing various plans and what to do if something happens.

Octavia and Athena walked together. No conversation was held but they walked in comfortable silence. That is until Clarke came up beside them.

"Hey." Clarke greeted.

Not sparing her a glance, Octavia scoffed, "what do you want?"

"I'm changing your missions. You're not going to the mines. I'm placing you guys in the rear guard, where you'll be safe." She told them.

"In case you haven't noticed, we don't take orders from you Clarke." Athena growled.

"I'm trying to protect you all." She said, to which the two warriors rolled their eyes at.

"Protect us? You didn't try to protect us when that missile hit." Athena spat with a glare.

"One day hopefully you'll understand." Clarke responded. Having enough of the conversation, Athena sped up her walk.

After a few minutes she could see someone step beside her. The familiar dark skin of her mentor.

"I'm changing your position." Anagosta spoke as she walked calmly.

"I swear if another person orders me around once more-" Athena sneered before being cut off.

"Relax, you're going to the front line. You're a person with a title, you have to be on the front line or else they'll think you're weak." She muttered with an eye roll.

"Why did you leave without me?" Athena asked after a long moment of silence.

"When the missile hit." She added after seeing Anagosta's confused look.

"I was following orders." She muttered as she kept her cold glare in front of her.

A pang of sadness hit her in the chest. It hurt her to hear that someone she respected so much didn't care as much as she did. If it were her in her position, she would have gotten as many people as she could to safety.

The army had made it to the front door of the mountain. Power radiated off of them all as they let out a series of war cries.
