After making sure the entire floor level was secure, Athena began making her way back to the throne room with bloody knuckles. Along the way, she met up with Bellamy, Pike, Murphy, and Adriel who were checking the other hallways. When they opened the doors to the throne room, they were met with Clarke who's eyes were rimmed red from crying. When they noticed Abby was awake, all weapons were brought out.
"Hey, no. It's okay. I used the emp. She's back." The blonde placed a protective arm in front of her mother. "Is the floor secure?"
"For now. I tied Jaha and the guards in a bedroom." Adriel stated and everyone watched as he cleaned the blood off his hands with a rag. His knuckles matching Athena's.
Pike side-eyed him cautiously, "we took the elevator out and the ladder as we climbed. Stairs are collapsed. No one's following us."
"Good." Clarke nodded her head and turned her gaze towards Athena, "we have time."
"What we don't have is a way down." Murphy added.
"Time for what?" Bellamy ignored Murphy and looked at the blonde questionangly.
"An ascension ceremony." Athena muttered quietly, but the room was quiet and everyone's eyes widened.
"Hold on." Bellamy quickly stepped forwards. "That thing killed Emerson and liquified his brain."
"Emerson wasn't a nightblood."
Suddenly Octavia ran through the doors with the rest. "Whatever you're doing, you better do it fast."
"Why? What happened?" Bellamy asked.
"Fuck." They all snapped their heads towards Adriel who was out on the large balcony. "They're climbing. We gotta hurry."
They all rushed outside and looked over the railing to see hundreds of people starting to climb up the tower. Athena's gaze widened when she noticed her father being one of them. Now she really had to do this. Not just for him, but for everyone else, too.
"Secure the balcony, me and Clarke will prepare." Athena rushed back inside. She didn't wait for confirmation, she just stood in front of the throne, staring at it intensely.
"Let's do this." Clarke sighed anxiously.
Nodding her head, she put her feelings aside and leaned back onto the throne. An unfamiliar feeling settled in her chest, wondering if she could ever be like Lexa. Her people loved her, honored her. Would they do that for her?
A hand being placed on her shoulder brought her out. "You don't have to do this." Octavia reminded her while kneeling next to the throne.
"I know." She replied and stared ahead at Clarke who had the chip in between her fingers.
Pike and the rest walked back in, "balcony's greased. No one's getting in through here."
"Good. There's enough lamp oil to cover every window on the floor except the commanders chambers." Bellamy stated.
