Athena had been in her room all alone for a few minutes. She sat on the comfortable bed that laid in the middle of the room.

She hummed a soft tune of a song her parents had shown her when she was little. Her fingers worked on her hair as she looked out at the sky.

A soft knock came from her door. "Come in." She said, before finishing a small braid on her hair.

"Lexa had sent for you, Fayaheda. It is urgent." Titus emerged from the doorway. His hands were behind his back and he wore the same robe as always.

Athena quickly grabbed her sheathe and pulled it over her shoulder while walking out the door.

Two guards and Titus walked behind her as she made her way to the throne room. Before they walked in they could hear shouting from what sounded like Clarke.

"I won't just sit there and watch you die!"

"Heda." Titus announced before bowing down. Athena and the guards lowered their heads.

"You called for me?" Athena looked at the commander's green eyes.

"Yes, it seems that Queen Nia has a night blood with her." Lexa gulped, "I need you to be ready. If Nia wins, she will immediately send her nightblood to kill the others, including you."

Before the blonde could answer, another guard came in. "It's time, Heda."

Lexa's gaze turned back to Clarke's, "then this is goodbye." She waited for the blonde to turn around before whispering, "for now."

Then she turned her gaze to Athena and walked up to her, she held out her hand and Athena knew what she meant. The blonde grabbed the brunettes forearm and the two nodded at each other before Lexa walked away.

Athena hoped Lexa would be okay. She had to win this. However old Nias nightblood was, she knew they would win. It was obvious that Nia would be prepared and train her nightblood.

Athena had only been training for less than 3 years. She was a quick learned and had the best teacher but it wouldn't compare to someone who trained at a young age.

She wouldn't just have to save the nightblood. She'd have to save everyone. And that made her heart sink.

Everyone's lives rested on Lexa's shoulders. And if she failed, then that weight would be on hers.

-

The drunks sounded. Banners of the two clans were everywhere. The ambassadors sat on their chairs infront of the two warriors.

Athena stood next to Adriel. Her heart pounded, and the sound of the crumbs only made it worse.

People stood in every direction. Wishing their Heda goodluck and wishing for roan to die.

The other nightbloods stood on the other side of the concrete floor. They watched their commander stare up at Titus who held his arms up to quiet everyone down.

"I'm single combat, there is but one rule... someone must die today! You may begin."

Roan unsheathed his sword and the crowd cheered. But once Lexa unsheathed hers, the crowd went wild.

Lexa looked at Clarke for a second and as she did that, Roan lunged at her. He swiped his sword at her but Lexa quickly turned and pushed him away.

The two swiped their swords at each other quickly, nobody backing down. Lexa did various turns and moves, pushing Roan back.

Then, the two collided. Their swords made an 'x' shape and the two pushed at eachother.

"You're done." Roan told her while pushing her down on one knee. Lexa scrunched her face up, trying to push him back.

Suddenly, she grabbed her blade with two hands instead of one. Black blood dripped onto the ground. She let out a war cry before hitting him in the face, making him yelp and turn back.

The two quickly lunged at eachother again. Roan punched Lexa in the face, making her turn. He then kicked her calf, making her fall to the ground. And when she quickly picked up her sword, he kicked it away.

But Lexa was smart and punched him in the groin. He groaned and doubled over, letting her hit him in the face with her elbow.

She went over and picked up both swords. She raised one above her head and the other below her waist.

The world was spinning for Roan. His eyes were squinted and he turned around like a drunk man. He looked around for a weapon and quickly punched a guard and stole his spear.

The crowd boo'd as he twirled the spear in various patterns. The two continued hitting their weapons together. None backed down and they hit each other with all the force they could.

Roan then threw one of Lexa's swords away with his spear. And then the other. Her eyes widened and Roan quickly kicked her onto her back.

Roan made his way over to Lexa who still laid on the ground. Athena's eyes widened and her heart sped up.

Roan raised his spear and then brought it back down to Lexa's face. But his spear hit the ground. Lexa had turned her head to the side, dodging the spear.

She swung her legs to the other side and kicked roan to his back. He swing the blade at her. She brought her head back, then her legs, and when he swiped at her stomach, she quickly dodged it.

When he tried stabbing her, Lexa trapped the spear under her forearm and yanked it away from him. She kicked his leg and Roan fell to his knee. Lexa hit him hard in the face with the spear and he fell back.

She twirled the spear around in her hands before pointing the blade at Roan.

"Get up!" The queen stood up and yelled at her son. "If you die, you don't die a prince, you die a coward!"

Athena could see Roan speaking to lexa. But Lexa only responded with a straight face. She brought the blade back up and before it could go back down, Lexa threw the spear right into Nia's chest, knocking her down onto her chair.

The crowds gasped and Athena's eyes widened. She could see the blood pool for Nia's eyes as her eyes closed.

"The queen is dead! Long love the king!" Lexa yelled out to everyone.

"Long love the king!" Everyone yelled out before cheering out, "Heda!"
