CHAP16-CLASS

ROSE'S POV:

I put on the blinker and maneuvered my car to the university's parking lot after finding a spot. I took my bag and hopped off my car. As I was locking the door, I saw Bella walking towards the main entrance with Zack and Laura. My eyes involuntarily took in her entire appearance.

She got skinnier and her face was not bright as it used to be. To be honest, I miss the old her. Smiling, caring, loving and happy. Now, she is just quiet, sad, or emotionless and I even catch her staring into space most of the time in my class. I just pretend I didn't catch her spaced out because Laura made sure to give her notes and help her during classes. So she wouldn't be left out and suffer during the upcoming exams.

Well, I can't blame her, she lost a family member. She told me about how special Ariel is to her. Honestly, I wish it was me who got shot, that little one doesn't deserve it. I wish I could go back to the past and change everything. Seeing Bella in pain really pained me.

Shooking my thoughts away, I continued on my way to the cabin. I smile walking past some students and of course, they returned my smile with a disgusted face. Ignoring my disappointment, I walked straight quickly. Just then, someone bumped into me.

"Ouch!" I heard a squeaky voice. Looking beside me I saw Penny rubbing her upper arm. She glanced to see who she bumped on and her eyes widened. "I'm so sorry, Miss. Matthews. I didn't saw you walking here," she said nervously. "It's okay, Penny. I know you didn't do it on purpose. Have a great day!" I said flashing a big smile. Surprisingly, she waved at me and giggled.

At least she doesn't hate me. I opened my cabin door and shut it close. Sitting on my desk, I threw my bag on the coffee table nearby. I have my class with Bella in the third period.

BELLA'S POV:

I played with my fingers staring intently at the study hall door. I saw Rose opening the door and getting inside. She looked exhausted for some reason. Just then, she caught me staring at her and smiled. I smiled back and lowered my head. Laying my head on my desk, I closed my eyes waiting for the class to start.

In a few minutes, the bell rang. Rose stood up and started her class.

Rose was interrupted in the middle of the lecturing by a knock. She sighed and opened the door revealing Mr.Smith holding a paper and told her something. Rose nodded her head as Mr.Smith walked away so she proceeded to close the door. But all of the sudden, Jeremy pushed the door open harshly making Rose stumble. She quickly manages to regain her composure.

From here I can feel the anger radiating out of her. When Jeremy ignored her and walked past me to sit in his place. I scrunched my face in disgust. He smelt like weed and alcohol. He also looked high and his eyes were almost closed shut. Rose glared at him and took a deep breath.

She forced a smile and continued the lecturing.

I scribbled the notes Rose gave us lazily in my notebook. "Guys, Mr.Smith informed me that there is a songwriting and singing competition in 3 weeks. The competition is organized by the University Of Alberta. If you're interested you can come and see me personally since I'm the head of the Music Society. For your info, we will be having practices and rehearsals before the competition, and you are also welcomed if you can play any instruments. Further information will be given once you're participating in the competition. Thank you. You may leave now," she finished glancing at me. I quickly averted my gaze.

"Bels, we should join since you can sing and write. Zack and I can play piano and violin as well. So how about we join this competition," Laura said tugging me gently to get my attention. Zack nodded his head waiting for my response. I shrugged because I'm not really interested. We got up and went on our way out of the study hall. I sighed deep in thoughts.

In Edmonton? I don't think I can do this. She will be there too. I know she will participate in that competition. I don't have the willpower to see her espeacially not when I'm so broken like this.

I can't say no to my friends too. I took a deep breath hoping nothing bad will happen.
