The weather outside starts to become a tad cooler as autumn comes close by.

It's the time of the week where Areum and I get our groceries. I insists she doesn't have to go but she always has to make sure we get her favorite snacks.
"Look!" She grabs a bag of pastries from the shelf. "We haven't had these in forever. We should get these!"
"No, put it back." I say sternly. She puts it back and pouts. I continue putting in the important foods.

"I just don't get why I can't use my own money for what I want." Areum complains.
"You know why. We have to-"
"To be able to sustain the both of us, I know."
"I'm sorry you have to suffer from me quitting my part time job but it's a responsibility of us being roommates."
"Why don't you just get a job then?" She asks.
"I'm applying for that internship, remember? I actually have the interview later today."
"Are you getting paid." Areum said being straightforward.
"No, but I'll be too busy to have a job."
She sighs, clearly annoyed with what she thinks is my incompetence.

Taking caution with my words, I suggest, "Why don't you get your own place with Sewoon?"
Areum freezes.
"I'm just saying. You guys have been dating for a few years now and you stay at each other's places often enough you might as well live together." I wait for her to say something but she stays frozen.
"Especially since we're about to graduate from college soon, it's about time to think about your relationship now that you'll need to start working towards your career."
Areum finally looks at me but with a bit of fear in her eyes. "While that sounds great, it seems like a huge commitment."
I nod in agreement. "I know all relationships are different but it's something to think about." I let my words sink in and we continue with our shopping.

Later in the day, I get ready for my interview. I get anxious as I make my way to the building just thinking about the possible questions they might ask me; interviews are never enjoyable for me.
I finally arrived and I take a deep breath to prepare myself.

I walk up to the front desk and tell them about my interview.
"Alright! I contacted Mr. Seo and he'll be ready for you shortly. You can take a seat while you wait."
I smiled politely as I walked to the waiting area. I sat down and began studying the place. It's really nice but nothing familiar- I still don't know why I feel like I'm not new to this environment.
"Mr. Seo is ready for your interview. Just go up to the second floor where one of our assistants will lead you to his office."
I thank them and followed their instructions.

The assistant knocked on the door and guided me inside the interview room. My interviewer greeted me with a smile as I walked in. He asked me to sit down and he began praising my portfolio.
"For a student, your work is amazing. I can tell you are great at capturing emotions and that takes a lot of practice."
I thanked him.
His compliments did ease me a bit but I know the effects won't last long.

. . .

"Okay, that concludes this interview. You should get a call back within the week but it might take 1-3 business days if you get the internship." He stood up and I followed. He shook my hand and I bowed out of common courtesy. I feel a huge wave of relief as I walk out the door. I feel confident about how that went so I honestly expect a call back. I make sure to put my sound up in case they call me today; I wouldn't want to miss it.

The elevator door opens to the main floor. I look up from my phone and see a large group of people getting into another elevator. As the door closes, I make eye contact with one of them.

Eric?

I walk out of the elevator and stand frozen– confused.

I couldn't have been him, though. Why would he be here? How?
