Chapter Thirty-Seven

It's another brisk winter Sunday. I had already finished all of the exams so I can rest without having to study so much.
"Finally," I said to myself. "I can do whatever I want today."
Since I've been staying up a bit late studying all last week, I decided to lay in bed all day and regain all of my energy.

I headed downstairs and ate some cereal while watching the morning news. Even though I'm not one to keep up with whatever is going on in the world, it helps me a lot with my Korean.
I also watched the news in America to see what was going on over there.
I kinda wish I could visit my family and friends.

Throughout the day in a semi-empty house (Jihoon's cooped up in his room, as per usual), I cleaned while jamming out to music that made me feel very nostalgic. Then I played in our little arcade room that no one really uses anymore due to our busy schedules, beat my brother's record in Pac-Man, and watched some movies I've been meaning to watch. At some point, Jihoon did come down but he only got a bunch of snacks and went back to his room.
You'd think that after he and his group finally connected, he'd behave differently. I guess he's always been like this.

While I was sitting in the living room on my third movie, I began getting bored.
"It was my goal not to get bored today." I said disappointingly.
I checked my phone to see if Sunwoo had texted me by any chance.

He said he was going to be busy today, didn't know what I expected.
I groaned, feeling frustrated.
"I could text Sewoon if he wants to hang out."

Me: Hey dude, are busy right now?

I waited a few minutes for him to respond.

Sewoon: Sorry! I'm working at my dad's shop all day.

Great.

I just kept on watching the movie through I wasn't even paying attention, just thinking of being with Sunwoo right now.
Even though he doesn't seem like it on the outside, he's really sweet and caring. Ever since we started being friends, I've noticed that he acts a certain way around me. While it's probably because he had a crush on me, it makes sense if that's how he truly is. I just know he can cure my boredom. Too bad I won't see him until tomorrow...

My eyes began to feel heavy. I was already laying on the couch, might as well just take a quick nap.

*knock knock*

I slightly opened my eyes as I heard a knock at the door.
Who could be here in the middle of the day?
I got off of the couch and slowly made my way to the door. I rubbed my eyes and opened the door.
"Surprise!"
I immediately stopped rubbing my eyes when I saw who it was.
"S-Sunwoo?"
"Hiii." He said cheerfully, for he was happy he had successfully surprised me.
"What are you doing here?"
"I came to surprise you!" A smile still on his face.
"But I thought you were busy."
"I was but we finished practice early today."
"Shouldn't you be resting?" I asked concerned.
"I mean, I could but I'd rather see you."
Still unable to process it all, I didn't say anything back.
"So...are you free right now?" He suddenly asked.
Unable to get the words out of my mouth, I nodded.
He smiled once again but a concerned look appeared on his face.
"Do you need time to change?"
In the midst of his surprise appearance, I completely forgot I was basically wearing my pajamas. Embarrassed, I told him to wait in the living room while I got changed for our
date.

. . .

The cool air hit my face as I walked with Sunwoo to a boba shop for our second date. We had planned to go later this week but Sunwoo took the liberty to surprise me and move up the date.

We arrived to a small boba shop in hoping Sunwoo wouldn't get recognized, but to be safe, he wore his hat and mask.
We both got a regular milk tea boba and sat down at a table in the back.
"Have you ever had boba?" Sunwoo asked to start a conversation.
"I have once with Sewoon, but it was a while ago."

We continued talking about random things as we drank our boba. Even though it wasn't an exciting date like last time, I still enjoyed sitting down and talking.
"I still can't believe you're graduating really soon." I said with disbelief in my tone.
He chuckled. "Yeah, I can't either."
"Do you have any plans on celebrating?"
"Nothing too big. Maybe go to a restaurant after the ceremony with a few of the members and have a small celebration with everyone back in company building."
"Sounds like fun." I said trying to make it seem interesting.
"Is your family planning something for Jihoon?
"Jihoon didn't want anything, just these super expensive shoes." I answered honestly, which made him laugh.
"Typical Jihoon."
Once the laughter died down, we went on with our serious conversation.
"Are you feeling nervous at all about the ceremony?" I asked.
"A little, but I'm trying not to think to much about it. I just need to stand there and smile."
We can't have a single serious conversation without Sunwoo making me laugh...
I snorted. "You're not wrong."
"You're going to do the same thing next year." He added.
Feeling clueless, I asked, "What do you mean?"
"You're graduating next year, remember?"
My mouth opened in shock.
"You're totally right..."
He crackled at my response.
"You forgot you're about to enter your last year of high school!"
"Sorryyy! I was too focused on your graduation I completely forgot about mine next year." I said while covering my face with my hands.
"No no, don't be embarrassed!" Sunwoo said, still laughing. He reached across the table to take my hands away from my face.
"You don't have to think about it if you don't want to." He said with comfort, which made me smile in return.
"It's not that I don't want to, I simply haven't thought about it yet."
"You still have a whole year, there's no need to worry about it."
"Thanks." I said with a smile.
"But have you thought about anything after that?" He asked.
I tried to remember if I have or haven't.
"Honestly, I don't think I really have."
"Well, that's okay. Like I said before, you have another year to think about it."
Technically less than a year...
I knew that Sunwoo was only trying to make me feel better, but now that I notice it, I really should start planning for university.

"So what are some upcoming events you guys have this year?" I asked as if I was an interviewer.
"There's a lot we have planned for this year actually."
"Like what?"
He took a sharp breathe before responding.
"I'm not too sure yet, but I know they've been talking about releasing a single album soon and another mini-album towards the end of the year and it's gonna be a lot involved!"
"So you're probably going to be very busy..." I said feeling a bit disappointed.
Sunwoo immediately noticed the change in my tone.
"The single album is coming soon but it's not a whole lot of work and the mini album isn't going to be until later-later! There's no need to worry about that now."
I didn't like worrying about our future as a couple, but it's harder when you're dating an idol. As much as I have the confidence and trust that nothing will happen between us right now, this is all new to me and it's all very unpredictable. And there's still a part of me that's scared this is all a dream. I don't have the best of luck when it comes to love, so who knows what could happen now that I have it.
