ch. 20: abandoned building

A/n this is a real mental hospital in Orlando Florida it's abandoned and everything is true I did my research on it

A couple of days later Amanda Savannah, Ava, and Claire gets to this mental hospital they did bring the baseball bat and Ava bought her teaser with her the owner of the building us giving them a tour so they walk up to the owner

'Hello and welcome to Orlando Florida, also welcome to Sunland mental hospital, I am Rick and I'm owner of this property, I'll be your tour guide throughout the day, what are your guys names?' Rick asks

'Ava' Ava says

'Claire' Claire says

'Savannah' Savannah says

'Amanda' Amanda says

'Awesome let's go inside get out of this heat, and I'll give you guys a background of the place' Rick says

'Lead the way' Ava says, so they walk inside into the lobby

'Ok first this place was a tuberculosis hospital in 1932, later known as Sunland training center for mental ill children, it was another word that they used but I don't like saying that word so I just say mental ill instead of the other word' Rick says

'Right' Claire says

'Throughout out ten years here they cared for mentally and physically disabled adults and children, an investigation was conducted in the 1970s after reports of abuse and neglect, ranging from getting bitten by rodents and pests to physical beatings' Rick says

'They would beat children here?' Savannah asks

'Sadly yes a lot, it's one of the many reasons why they was shut down' Rick says

'Oh my god' Ava says

'The first floor is the kids floor, second woman's, and third floor man, if you follow me down here the hallway I'll show you what they left behind in one of the kids rooms' Rick says, they follow him to one of the kids rooms and sees a bed then a machine beside the bed

'This right here is a feeding tube, they would put the food inside the top makes into liquid form, goes through the tube then into their stomachs, the investigation also found that over 400 patients had gastric feeding tubes like this one, and were being fed a cereal like gruel three times a day' Rick says

'I know how a feeding tube is, i had a eating disorder when I was younger like nine or ten' Amanda says

Oh my god, i didn't know that' Ava says

'Nobody does beside Sava here' Amanda says, Savannah kisses her on the head

'I don't know how to move on from that, but down in the basement in the surgical room they also found the facility maintaining surgical areas and used short-term doctor authorizations to administer treatments on a long-term basis' Rick says

'So after they have surgery they wouldn't treat the patients wounds if it's long-term?' Claire asks

'Yes ma'ma, that's why most of them died' Rick says

'Jesus' Savannah says

'After the reported afterward that a shortage of staff and equipment led to a 'proliferation of deformities' in patients, that includes 'upper respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, skin breakdown, and nutritional difficulties, all of which are much too common at Sunland Orlando, this place closed down in 1983' Rick says

'I learned that the medicine that they used back then is completely different now because they didn't know' Amanda says

'That is true that's why there's not many mental hospitals around the world' Rick says
