After giving the Descouche brothers a lame excuse that I had to be somewhere, I slipped away from them and hurried out of the cellar. I wasn't too surprised that they were planning on escaping, since it did seem like something they would do, but I was surprised that they involved me, and trusted me not to tell anyone. However, I was going to tell someone, and that someone would be DK, who might already know.
I scanned the area around me for my cellmate, and quickly locked eyes with him, since he was staring expectantly at me. I walked towards him, and he met me halfway. Before I said anything, I pulled him into the shadow of the nearest wall to us.
"Did you know about this?" I demanded quietly.
"About their escape? Yeah, I'm helping them, and it looks like you are too." He answered.
"No, I'm not. Like I said a million times, I do not want to get involved." I said impatiently.
Why have I gotten so much attention here? For the first time in my life, I wished I was invisible. I wished no one paid me any attention, and they would all just leave me alone. I just wanted to do my time here, then move on.
"You don't have a choice, Fish. Either you help us escape, or you die. It's up to you." He explained.
"What if I tell the guards?" I asked, glancing up at the nearest guard tower.
DK suddenly grabbed onto my shoulders and slammed me against the wall, with one hand on my chest and the other around my throat. "If you say anything to the guards, you will extra die. They'll kill you, and then they'll rip your soul from your corpse and kill that. Do not say anything to the guards. Otherwise we're all fucked, and no one escapes alive. Do you understand me?" He asked, glaring at me with his intense eyes.
"Okay, fine. Yeah, I understand." I choked out.
"Good." He said, letting go of me and stepping back. "Follow me then."
Suddenly aware that DK could probably snap my neck just as easily as the brothers could, I hastily followed him around the corner. I guessed we were going back to the old wine cellar, probably so he could show me their plan. Personally, I thought this was a terrible idea, but depending on how good their plan was, it could actually work.
We made it back to the cellar, and slipped inside the dusty room. The brothers weren't here anymore, but everything was still in place, with the hole covered up. DK moved the crate out of the way, to reveal the hole again. He jumped inside, and I followed him. At first all I could see was darkness, but a moment later DK turned on a flashlight, which was something he somehow had.
I started to feel a little claustrophobic, since I was in a tiny dirt tunnel that could collapse on top of me at any second. Still, I followed DK forward, and we crawled through the tunnel for a surprisingly long time. Finally, DK stopped, and I could see some kind of pipe blocking his way.
"Here is where the problem starts." DK stated. "This pipe leads somewhere past the outside walls, but we have no idea where. It's just big enough for me to fit in, probably, but those two giants would never make it. So, my job is to find out where it goes, and I'm supposed to help them from the outside. I might need some help though, so that's why you're here."
"More like you're too much of a pussy to do it yourself." I joked, smirking at him.
"I am not. I just need some help, that's all." He defended, scowling at me. "Anyway, first we need to break through this pipe, and I might know of something that can help us with that."
"What?" I asked, starting to feel like I was in a Mission Impossible movie or something.
"You'll see, I want you to meet someone first though." He answered without actually answering me, because apparently he's more of a visual guy.
We made our way out of the tunnel, and DK pushed the crate over the hole again. "What's the likelihood of a guard finding this?" I asked curiously.
"Not likely. No one really comes down here. It's been abandoned for the past few years, since there's a new isolation room somewhere else." He eyed me suspiciously, as if he was wondering if I was going to tell someone about this place.
"I'm not going to tell anyone, I was just making sure we're not going to get caught halfway through our escape." I clarified.
"We won't, as long as everything goes according to plan." He said confidently.
"Do the brothers know about this other person, and the supplies you need from them?" I asked.
DK smirked slightly, then said. "No, actually. They don't. They left me in charge of this escape, and they barely do anything. That means my neck is on the line, not there's, so I've decided I'm going to be leading them down that line, until it gets cut."
"Wait, are you saying...." I trailed off as his smirk grew.
"I'm saying that we're going to escape, and we'll be leaving the Descouche brothers in the dust."
