After our awkward silent flight to Switzerland, we stopped to get some food mum was mainly talking at me telling me all about Roses adventures through the week and how she wants to have her own ice cream shop with Florence now. It's nice just listening and not having to talk, she tells me about work and Colin and everything in between. It's now around 6am and we drive up to the hospital?

As I look at it from the car window it looks like a huge hotel, and the view of the Alps is impeccable. The building looks to be a historic alpine chateau that has been refurbished from top to bottom, inside and out, state-of-the-art treatment facilities you can see through the large glass windows a lavishly appointed spa with a large open pool.

The two of us walk in leaving all of our things in the car. We are met at a large receptions desk which is a glossy white with a marble accent wall behind it, the calm and silence in the building is almost relaxing the young lady behind the desk is dressed in like white scrubs, which doesn't fill me with the same relaxation. "Ms Johansson, Mr Johansson" The nurse addresses us and my mother nods as i take on the surrounding. "Dr Charles will show you both around" She smiles and goes back to typing away on the computer.

"Ms Johansson, pleasure is mine I'm Dr Charles please call me Leana." A middle aged woman enters the reception area, with blond, frizzy hair neatly coiffured to reveal a skinny, warm face. Sparkling brown eyes, admiring my mother as she shakes her hand while trying to maintain her professionalism. "Would you like a tour?" Her overly energetic voice rang through the corridor as she walked away leaving the pair of us to follow after her.

"This is the library, you have full access to this room when ever you please along with most of the room" The doctor told me this time as she walked into the room decorated in a style of understated British elegance with a warm and embracing ambiance and log fire, there where a few books lining the shelves but not as many as you would expect for a library.

She walked us into another room, "This the Drawing room, or lounge this room isn't used as much but it's here for visitors" Lena explained to us moving us through the room decorated in the same spirit, with antique furniture and Persian rugs, and with a bay window overlooking the Alps and the wonderful pastures that are particularly famous to Switzerland.

"This is the Study" Looking over the room it seemed to be another warm and cosy room where the guests can read quietly, share a moment of conviviality or just relax and gather one's thoughts.

"Nutrition is an important part to wellbeing and healthy recovery. Our Chefs have created a unique menu composed with organic and only fresh products. Our qualified kitchen staff is determined to provide delicious, nutritious and at the same time healthy meals for the entire stay. We work with local suppliers and farmers to source seasonal products grown as close to us as possible." Dr Charles told us as we entered a brightly lit room with a group of tables across the room all laid out to perfection like a 5 star hotel.

I look out side the window of the 'restaurant' i can see a balcony like structure with tables outside so you could enjoy outside dining in always with the view of the snow capped Alps and lake Geneva just below. "You can take a look Thomas" The doctor says looking over at me nodding towards the door and i step out onto the balcony to be met with the cold crisp air of the winter weather, looking at the snow crisp mountains. I may hate the idea of feeling venerable and weak but so far this mainly feels like a holiday.

As i take a step back inside i follow my mother who is talking to the doctor ahead of me as we walk further into the building on the tour. We reach a new floor heading up in an elevator to what looks like a spa or gym. The spa takes up one entire floor and comprises of treatment suites with either beds or lounge chairs, yoga and pilates rooms, a fully equipped gym, sauna and hammams, as well as relaxation rooms, and of course, a spectacular infinity pool which allows you to swim from inside to outside with views over lake Geneva.
