Boxing Lesson

Finally it's Saturday...

I wake up and remember that last night after Brie, Elijah, Charlie and Katie. Came over for dinner it was actually a fun evening Brie claimed it was the Pre-Birthday celebrations. After a lot of persuasion a few of us are going to they gym this morning for me to apparently do a boxing lesson no idea how it happened if I'm honest. 

Getting changed into a tank and a pair of shorts along with a towel and my boxing gloves and boots i head downstairs to see my mum in leggings and a sports bra. She grabs her car keys as i place a hat on my head and we walk out the frount door jumping into the car  heading to the gym.

As we pull up and mum has finally woken herself up with a coffee, we pull up and see Brie and Katie taking in the car park. pulling my cap lower as we jump out the corner the girls mumble tired morning while Brie practically bounces pretending to throw punches too much energy for anyone to deal with making me laugh i push her head forwards making her walk into the gym

"Okay quick warm-up run on treadmill then Katie I will pair you with Brie, Mum your with me So we will guide you on the technical side and who knows maybe we can get you too spar by the end." After everyone does about a 15 minute run me and Katie compare distances and i laugh at her when she groans seeing my distance compared to hers. We move over to set up the lesson.

First focusing on the main movements Jab, Cross, hook and uppercut.

"The purpose of a jab is to keep your opponent from coming in close to you." As I demonstrate throwing into the pad that Katie had hold of, i lead with my less-dominant hand, in my case my left with my hands up in fists by my face in the protective stance in case of any on coming hits. Bouncing on my toes constantly moving knees bent and shoulders rounded. My front foot is at a slight angle aiming towards Katie, my back foot countering the weight behind me at an angle to finish off I then, i extend and punch my fist forward as i exhale a sharp breath making a small 'tch' sound as I exhale.

"The cross can be used as a counter move to a jab. You use it to gain more power and strength as it uses your dominate hand" Using my right hand aiming towards the pad Katie has at chin hight, i punch with force and speed. The dominant shoulder is thrust forward. At the same time, my left hand is pulled back and tucked against my face back into the protective position. My torso and hips rotate as inthrow the punch at Katie.

"Okay as I get padded up mum your with me, Brie with Katie, we are going to go with a 1,1,2,1,2,2. 1 are a jab, 2 is a cross"

I quickly throw on a pair of black pad after I help my mum into a pair of boxing gloves Katie does the same with Brie.

"Okay so mum let's go with 1,2,1 first so.."

She fires her left hand into my right and her right into my left follows by the jab again.

"Elbows in, keep your resting close to your body again"

She takes on the criticism and she is improving the techniques as she moves trying to help guide her without over stepping and letting her work out she feels best.

"Stay on your toes, it will give your more power. LARSON elbows in you look like a bird trying to take flight."

I see her roll her eyes as she listens we keep swapping the movements and I can see them getting bored.

"Number 3 will be the hook. The purpose of the hook is to take someone down in a single shot, your classic superhero punch really" as I demonstrate with Katie opposite me I shift my weight to my lead foot so that i can twist quickly on my toes to generate power through the rest of my body for more impact. I swing my fist horizontally towards the pad Katie is holding, and pivot on my toes to increase the damage.
