Kija kept her eyes on the floor as Todoroki walked out of the hospital room. She gave Midoriya a small wave. He'd be staying at the hospital for now, but Kija and Todoroki were getting discharged at the same time. The door closed, and Todoroki and Kija left the hospital in silence, on the way to the train station.

Kija trained her eyes forward and Todoroki did the same. The sidewalks were empty, meaning no one would overhear them.

"Hey, Todoroki."

"Yeah?"

Now or never.

Kija kept her voice level, "I'm sorry that it took this long for me to tell you, but...I overheard your conversation with Midoriya at the Sports Festival." Todoroki stiffened next to her, but Kija went on despite it, "I wanted to talk to you about it earlier, but," Kija let a small, sad chuckle escape her, "I kinda figured Midoriya had that covered. Somewhat."

Todoroki watched Kija and spoke slowly, almost like he hesitated, "Yeah, I guess he did."

The two didn't stop, walking in silence again. Kija waited a few beats, a silent offering for Todoroki to speak first.

"Senpai, could you not mention this to anyone?"

There. Kija waited a moment to reply to Todoroki, "I'll respect that, on a few conditions."

The air changed to what it had been before the Sports Festival. Whatever mindset Todoroki had been in, it was back, "What?" He spit out.

"Listen to them first, you'll see why," Kija said, her eyes still forward.

Todoroki opened his mouth but closed it before he said anything. A silent understanding that Kija wasn't going to let this go passed through him.

"First," Kija started, "You have to tell me none of that stuff is still happening."

Todoroki glanced at Kija, "What do you mean?"

"The unethical training, beatings, abuse. Any domestic violence." Kija saw Todoroki flinch at the words, but he stayed quiet. "Are you able to say it's not?" Kija asked, "Or is it still happening?"

She let her eyes meet Todoroki's. Unwavering and refusing to do anything without the truth.

Slowly, watching with his own calculating eyes, Todoroki looked Kija in the eye and spoke, "It doesn't happen anymore."

Kija stopped, Todoroki's suddenly worried eyes burning a hole in Kija's head. Forcing herself to be calm, because this was not about her and no way was she making it that way, Kija breathed a sigh of relief and straightened herself. Her nerves no longer shook her body.

"Kija-senpai—"

"I'm glad," Kija whispered. Todoroki paused, hand half raised to her shoulder before it dropped, no longer needed.

Kija brought her head up and let her hand loosen on her bag strap, "Sorry 'bout that. Just...never mind." Kija sighed, "But that's not my only condition." She saw Todoroki frown, only slightly though.

"What else is there?"

Kija took another step forward, slowly, and Todoroki fell into pace with her, "You need to promise that if anything like that starts again, whether it's to you or anyone else, you will tell someone, and I mean a teacher at UA. Not me first, not your friends, you go straight to Aizawa or another faculty member. Got it?"

Todoroki glanced at Kija, "Right." A weight lifted itself off Kija's shoulder, "But I doubt there's anything anyone could do."

A piece of Kija's soul chipped away at that.
