Kija watched two of the third years fight, they were already onto the tournament's second battle, with Kija's match conveniently the last one of the first bracket. The first years would be finishing up their semi-finals soon, but Kija couldn't keep watching them.

Instead, she tried to not think but think at the same time because her head was such a mess and all she could hear was static in between the crowds roars but there shouldn't be any static but there was static where there shouldn't be—

Trying to distract herself by watching her classmates launch attack after attack didn't help Kija in the slightest.

Togata glanced at Kija, them and the rest of their class staying in their viewing area. He grinned, "Who do you think's going to win?"

Kija didn't hear him, and if she did the chances of her answering him were low. Her head refused to let anything of importance in, thoughts and noise swirled together to create an unprecedented storm.

Thick, gnarly, and refusing to let Kija ignore it.

Togata didn't try to ask again, knowing he wouldn't get an answer for one reason or another. An ice pack was tapped to where he'd punched her, but the bruise was already forming. If he thought she wasn't talking to him about the punch, then all the better. Less people to explain things to.

The two watched the fight as the taller kid shot out yellow beams from his palm but the other dodged and ran for his opponent, elongating his hair and trying to swipe at the taller one. When he got closer, the defender switched to a blue beam instead, this time coming from his other hand. One of them landed on the advancers arm, stunning him mid stride.

The taller kid picked up his frozen opponent while the crowd roared, the announcer only hyping them up more as the instant replay flashed across the jumbotrons.

"Well, that's the second match. Hado-san's is next, right?" Togata pried, hoping to get something out of Kija.

Momentarily coming back to reality, Kija nodded, "Yeah, going up against Torikosa isn't gonna be easy." Nejire's opponent was one of their classmates, he had a Quirk that could change his body to have attributes of any member of the feline family. He'd gotten great at mixing and matching traits, so he always had some trick up his sleeve.

"Hey, don't worry, she'll be great!" Togata fist pumped the air.

"Yeah, she'll be awesome," Kija mumbled, believing it despite not having the energy to show it. The frozen competitor was wheeled off and Kija felt her phone vibrate. She reached into her pocket, predicting Nejire calling her.

Probably last-minute jitters.

Kija clicked the answer button without looking, "Hel—"

"Vortex! Hosu city! He's here!" Kija's snapped open as she heard Noir rattle off her report and the coordinates. "Get over here—"

"Ria!" Kija pounced from her seat, whipping around to face the class rep, "Noir called me in, I have to go. Tell them I'm not gonna be back in time to compete." Kija hung up on Noir, location already burned into her memory as she bolted out of the viewing area.

"Wait what?! What happened!?" Ria called after Kija.

"They found him! I gotta go!" Kija bolted out the doorway, leaving behind a confused class rep and over a dozen of her classmates.

"So...she's not going to be in the tournament?" Togata asked.

Ria looked to him, "No." The realization sunk in, "Holy—I got to tell them!" Ria jumped over the seats, running out behind Kija with Togata in tow.
