All Might turned to the hand villain. His shirt was shredded and in tatters, he didn't even care though.
"You've been bested villains. Surrender. We all want to get this over with quickly." All Might's voice was still steady despite him looking terrible. Kija let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. The hand villain stood up and he violently shook as Kija's stomach dropped.
Just because Nomu was gone didn't mean this was over. Kija readied her Quirk in case they tried anything again. She wasn't going to let Kurogiri get away, was this really the first time she'd heard his name?
But the hand villain trembled with anger, Kija heard his hoarse whisper, "He cheated." The villain scratched his neck, visibly frustrated and Kija suddenly wanted to know his name so she could put a name to bratty face.
"What's wrong?" All Might taunted, Kija started to bind Kurogiri again. The warp villain noticed and set his gaze on her, trying to undo her warping prison. Kija forced herself to meet his eyes and memories flooded her.
Cold, empty, alone, person, there, gone, absent.
"Not attacking me?" All Might asked the blue haired villain. "Didn't you say you were going to clear this level earlier?" The pros eyes set on the hand villain, "Well, come and get me, if you dare."
Those yellow eyes bore into Kija, glimmers of light she'd once thought would help her, only to tease her with hope and leave her to rot.
Person, left, gone, cold, eyes, bright.
Kija bit her lip, her muscles ached but she had to keep going. Her portals were still resisting Kurogiris attempts to break free, but she was nearing her limit. Kija could see All Might take notice.
"Man, this is...intense." Kirishima breathed.
"As I expected. There's no reason for us to fight now. He'll handle this. And with Kija-senpai as back up, there should be nothing to worry about." Todoroki added.
"Come on, Midoriya. We should regroup with the other guys. The last thing we wanna do is get taken hostage or get in their way." Kirishima tried to get his classmate up as Kija breathed a sigh of relief.
Thank you, now go!
Overusing her Quirk was starting to take its toll on Kija, but maybe it was also seeing Kurogiri again, she didn't know. All that mattered now was those kids getting somewhere safe and them restraining these villains until help got here. Kija grit her teeth.
I'm sorry I can't do more. I'm sorry I can't protect you all. I told myself I'd never let people get hurt by people like them again. But...look at me, barely able to do more than keep him at bay.
Kija saw Midoriya hesitating, "Go, I can hold them off long enough for All Might to catch his breath and you all to get out of here." The first years glanced at her; she saw their eyes widen when they saw her face.
Sweat gathered at her temple and scuff marks from a few too many tumbles dotted her face, not to mention the labored breathing just to keep Kurogiri trapped. Yes, it was a lot of effort to keep him restrained, but what else could she do?
"Senpai—" Kirishima took a step toward her, but she shook her head. Kija forced her breathing to calm down, sweat covered her brow, and every one of her muscles ached from being contracted so long.
"You need to get out of here, I should be able to—" Kija felt Kurogiri recede his attempts to break free and she took the chance to trap the hand villain's torso in two. Kurogiri grunted and tried to overlay it, but Kija had him trapped now too.
