"Young Kija! What a pleasure!" All Might's booming voice nearly sent Kija's hood flying off her head from the pure volume. She pulled the thing up again, her goggles already in place and the rest of Kija's costume on. You couldn't even tell someone had tried to murder her in the thing less than a week ago it'd been repaired so well.
"Good to see you, All Might," Kija said, walking up to the seven-foot-tall man, none of the first years had arrived yet, so it was just the two of them. All Might had his normal costume on today, no cape or business suit. Though Kija sorta missed the yellow stripped suit.
All Might gave her a thumbs up, "Same to you! I trust you've healed well since your internship?"
That blinding smile was going to give Kija a sunburn one of these days, but she saw the concern in All Might's face, a comforting kind of smile. Though Kija shouldn't have been surprised, everyone had heard about Hosu and that she was involved in the Hero Killers arrest. She'd been getting looks all day.
And those kids had gotten stuff from the rumor mill, who knew how much All Might actually knew about everything?
"Eh," Kija answered, stopping in front of All Might and putting her hands on her hips, tilting her head up to meet his eyes, almost subconsciously mimicking the hero's...heroic pose, "I'm all good now. Still sore, but it's manageable."
All Might nodded, "As expected. I heard you had quite the fight in Hosu. I must thank you for looking out for my students, yet again."
Kija almost frowned at that. Something was off. No, not off, just meant something different. The first years were All Might's students, he was teaching them almost exclusively, and Kija would never doubt All Might wanted them to be safe. But at the same time, there was just a hint of personal implication in All Might's words that had gears turning in Kija's head.
"Well!" All Might boomed, "Now that we're here, we must prepare for the exercise!" He leaned down and tried to whisper to Kija, accomplishing his goal better than he had the first time she'd met him in the hallway. He whispered but his voice still boomed as he spoke, "I have an idea for the students to do at the end of the practical exercise and would like your assistance, what do you say?"
Now, not many people could say they saw All Might himself smiling like a child about to go to an amusement park, but Kija could.
She gave All Might a thumbs up, "Happy to help."
"Excellent!" All Might clapped her on the back and Kija stumbled forward from the impact. She acted like it didn't happen though, instead turning to see the first years arrive at the training grounds.
Kija stayed to the side until the exercise started, All Might just asking her to teleport everyone into their positions for the rescue exercise. Five kids rushing to be the first to respond to a distress signal. Simple enough, and perfect to showcase a general understanding of what they'd learned.
Of course, Kija grinned when she saw that green energy crackling around Midoriya. He used it to launch himself through the air, his moves even looked familiar to Bakugo's, must've been all that analyzing that ingrained the technique so much into him.
"Hey, senpai," Tsu leaned over to Kija.
"Yeah?"
"Isn't some of that your style?"
"Huh?"
Kija turned her head back to Midoriya as he vaulted from pipe to pipe. One of his hands above him to grab overhang with the other reaching for the next, his feet landing at an angle to go forward as opposed to staying in place.
Uraraka chimed in, "Really? It looks more like Bakugo's to me."
Oh, he did fucking not. Kija glanced behind her and smiled at Bakugo, though it was hidden under her face coverings. Bakugo stiffened and looked away, a tad embarrassed. Who knew the great Katsuki Bakugo would imitate her enough that it rubbed off on Midoriya?
