Noir grumbled to herself for the tenth time since they'd gotten back to the police station. Tsukauchi looked up from his desk and frowned at her, "You really should go to the hospital."

"And you should really think before you fire a gun at a suspect."

"Who was in the middle of trying to commit murder," Tsukauchi said.

Noir waved him off, making sure to keep her hand away from the bandages on her head. She'd jerked away from Magne's pole in time, but Magne still managed to cut Noir's forehead before the gunshot had spooked her and she'd hightailed it out of the scene with Spinner.

Noir should've gone after them, she could've tracked them down with her Quirk faster than the officers could. But they had run fast, out of her range the instant they turned the corner. Which made Noir furious her Quirk had failed at such a close range.

A knock sounded at the door and Tsukauchi called the person in. An officer entered, saluting before he walked past Noir and put a folder on Tsukauchi's desk. "The DNA results, sir."

At least Noir had been able to swipe some hair off Spinner, otherwise the entire interaction would've been a waste. Tsukauchi picked up the folder and Noir walked over, peering at the files herself.

"You got them this quickly?"

"A rush order," Tsukauchi said. He handed the rest of the folder to Noir, and she flipped to the page that would show any matching suspects. If Spinner's civilian identity had a record of DNA, they'd be able to match them.

Noir frowned at the page. There were only three people on the list and their profile pictures were next to their names. Noir read the percentage of matching DNA and scoffed, "Less than .01%? That gives us nothing." She looked at the officer, "Who administered this report?"

He glared at her, "I did."

"And you think someone less related to Spinner than a 6th cousin could be him? One of these guys has green skin, not scales." She flipped the paper so the officer could see, "This information is useless, if you don't want to put a blank page just say there are no results, don't drag unrelated people into it."

"But they're all convicted villains!"

Noir tapped her finger on the paper, "For shoplifting, illegal parking, and vandalism? More than half of the country has done one of those things." She glared at the officer, voice even, "We are not wasting time and resources on a dead end."

She saw the guy's eye twitch and didn't flinch as he slammed his fist on the table. Tsukauchi jumped back in surprise, then eyed Noir and mimicked her demeanor.

The officer seethed at Noir, his fist clenched, and his eyes were radically mad while he stared at Noir, "That's real hypocritical coming from you, training a kid we all know is gonna end up a villain."

Something sliced through Noir's veins, cold and unrelenting. She stayed rooted in place, keeping a glare that could freeze over hell on her face while the asshole talked his mouth off.

"I worked my ass off just to get a few leads for you, and you're giving me a lecture? These people are villains!" He slammed his hand on the paper, "You need to go arrest them and call 'em in for questioning, or do you want more people to die?"

The lamp on Tsukauchi's desk flickered, and when it did, Noir's face turned pitiful. She ignored the officer and walked past him to her bag. Anger and frozen heat rolled off him and onto her back in spades, tainting the room. But Noir ignored it. She grabbed a folder out of her bag and found the paper she was looking for.

She turned and held out the paper to the officer, "Read that."

He sneered at her, "I don't take orders from you."
