"Noir was the one they fought?"

"Yes. Though we were only in talks with them, I thought it best to keep any potential members safe."

"And did she see you teleport them away?"

"No. It was done once they were out of sight."

A sigh escaped the man, "This could put that woman back on our trail."

"B—but! She never knew we were connected to those—er, my, experiments. It'd be impossible for her to make the connection."

"It would not matter. She nearly found our facilities before."

"But she didn't know it was us, didn't she?"

"Nevertheless, we can't have her become involved with the League. Tomura needs time to grow without the hero's interfering. See to it the new members Tomura has chosen aren't spotted again until the attack."

"Yes, I will see to it. And, for the attack, what should I do to keep Vortex out of the fight?"

The man smiled behind his screen, "Oh, I'm sure some time with her father and Dr. Ujiko will be more than enough to bring her back to her senses."

"Is it all that mean if we hide from them a bit longer?" Kija asked. She had her head tipped sideways, looking up at Amajiki as she teased him. Warmth flowed between their hands and eyes in the reclusive spot they'd found behind some tents. With the fireworks finished people were leaving without a look back, and nobody paid the two of them mind in the half-lit backdrop of the night.

Amajiki could only smile, his voice light as air, "Maybe tell them to meet us at the restaurant? So long as Hado won't get suspicious."

Kija grinned, "Trust me, she'll be on board. And," Kija hopped up on her toes and whispered in Amajiki's ear, "I'm assuming if you aren't worried about Togata, that means he was in on this?"

She watched him go beet red and chuckled as she fell back on her heels, "I should start counting how many times I make you blush—woah!"

Amajiki pulled their intertwined hands behind him, making Kija stumble into his chest, air left her lungs against her own volition. Kija looked up at the bashful look on Amajiki's face. He ducked his head and whispered, "I don't think you'd be able to count that high."

Kija's heart pounded in her chest, the whisper echoing through her in a pattern she more than adored, and her heart began to beat to it. Her breathing followed, inhaling and exhaling at the same time as Amajiki. If not for how loud her own heartbeat was, she could imagine hearing Amajiki's.

The thought made pink rise in Kija's cheeks, and she sheepishly pulled her head away from Amajiki's chest. "Well," Kija tipped her head so she could look him in the eye, "I'm not going to stop making you blush. Since you're very cute when you get embarrassed."

He chuckled, "We established that earlier, you know."

"Yes, we did." Kija leaned closer to Amajiki, his hair brushing her face, and eyes lost in hers, "And while I love seeing you embarrassed," He flushed at that word and Kija moved one of her hands to his chest, "I'm hoping I can see," She whispered against his skin, "Another side," She trailed a finger along his cheek, "Of my dear Amajiki—"

Absence slapped Kija's lips and she froze in place, suspended in air, and now much farther from Amajiki than she wanted to be. He'd pulled back, leaving Kija with a tipped chin, half-closed eyes, and slightly puckered lips.

The beginnings of rejection crowded into Kija's thoughts, and she pulled her face back, hands and body still against Amajiki's.

He had is face towards the ground. Fear gripped Kija, had she done something? Was this too fast? If Amajiki didn't want to kiss her that was perfectly fine but now what did she do—
