"They're on the southeast side." Kija stepped through her portal, back after only a few seconds of recon, "Two people, one's moving in the air and the other is on the ground."
"Are they headed our way?" Amajiki asked.
"Not exactly..." She hesitated a second, "They're heading for the center."
"Then they probably don't know where we are," Amajiki said.
"Yeah. You ready to teleport? I'll drop us in a building for cover."
Amajiki nodded, "I'm ready."
Kija flicked her fingers, only meant to warm Amajiki, not to initiate her Quirk. She warped them inside the fourth floor of a decrepit building. Each window was broken or cracked, with rubble from past uses of the zone scattered through the room. There wasn't any furniture or signs of human life, one thing the practice zones often failed to re-create.
They crouched, Kija nudged Amajiki and made a forward movement motion with her hand. He followed her and the two crouched under a mostly in tact window, peaking out onto the street.
Kija pointed to the left and a person came into view, running down the street parallel to their building. Wind whistled against the building, making Kija and Amajiki's hoods ruffle.
"The other one's behind a bit," Kija whispered to Amajiki, "Probably staying behind to jump in if we start attacking."
"They probably have comms like us, so we need to take them out at the same time," Amajiki whispered back, "What do you think their Quirks are?"
Kija narrowed her eyes at the grounded person, "He's covered in hair, probably something to do with that."
"I can handle hair. And you'd be better in ariel combat than me," Amajiki said. The wind rustled his hood and he pulled it down farther, "I can take this one here and you can warp the other one far enough away that they can't re-group."
Kija nodded, "Alright. Let's wait to see the second one and then I'll teleport us in position."
The two went silent, but the first villain was nearly out of eyesight. Kija grimaced.
"I'll start following him," Amajiki said. He glanced at Kija, "Warp me somewhere if you need me."
She nodded, "Got it."
Amajiki headed for the empty window panel. His feet started transforming as he hopped to the next building over to keep up with the mock-villain. Kija breathed a sigh of relief and turned back to the window.
They were coming closer, traveling faster now, still high above the ground. Kija braced herself, already knowing which part of Ground Beta she'd teleport to.
Wind brushed past her face and Kija saw the boy race down the street, flying at the level she was on, gusts of wind whipping around him, a heavy cape flowed in his wake. His eyes were on the line of buildings Kija was in.
Wind control. That was all she needed.
Kija warped the boy to the opposite side of Ground Beta. Her foot connected with his stomach and sent him spiraling out of the air. The air he'd been controlling didn't come with him, leaving him grounded with her. He slammed against the wall, falling face first on the ground with a resounding thud.
The guy popped up like a daisy, "HEY! GREAT TO MEET YOU—"
Kija warped behind him and grabbed the back of his shirt. She lifted him off the ground, her portals whipping out and separating his hands from his arms and his head from his body.
"MY NAME IS—"
Kija slammed him sideways into a wall. Her feet braced to fight against any retaliation. A piece of his gear, his hat, fell to the ground and Kija kicked it away, watching the hat tip to reveal an emblem.
