Amajiki had been caving in on himself ever since the girls had come storming in and revealed the pervert among them. It was one of his classmates, how could he have not known someone did something like drill a hole between the locker rooms? How did you even bring a drill to school?

Guilt gnawed at him, out of everyone Amajiki was one of the people who could've noticed and stopped it. But he'd had no idea, and now he was part of the group that had violated so, so many rules and moral boundaries. Especially since Kija had been the one to bring it to light. It made him worry that she'd indivertibly blamed him, guilty by association and not realizing anything, she might even consider him a pervert.

Which he was not.

Amajiki shuddered from the idea that people could think of him as one. That Kija possibly could. He knew Kija didn't tolerate terrible people, so maybe if she still talked to him that meant Kija hadn't lost all respect for him?

Still, Amajiki followed after Mirio to leave for the day. He spotted the pervert trudging back from the pool, sopping wet. The girls who passed him turned up their noses in his direction. Amajiki joined them and glared so hard at the boy that he turned around, spotted Amajiki, then ran for the hills.

Looked like his stare was just as scary as Mirio said it was. At least Amajiki didn't need to use the potato head method to look at the guy.

Because the irritation and disgust overpowered it. Even if Amajiki might freeze up at confrontation or whenever he talked with people he wasn't familiar with, no way he'd back down from a creep like that. His classmates and friends didn't deserve to be treated with such indignity.

Friends.

That...wasn't what he felt about Kija anymore. Amajiki looked to the ground, trying to stop his face from going red again. Like it had all lunch long. Kija had picked up on it, of course, and asked him if he was okay. He'd attempted to use the potato technique to help, but it'd failed.

Like his reasoning during the entire day to try and say that no, no he did not like Kija as more than a friend.

Amajiki knew he was dead wrong. He liked her. Romantically.

But could you blame him? They'd known each other for two years and Amajiki found a safe space around Kija, someone who didn't pressure him to go out of his comfort zone but help him when he tried. And even protected him when things went bad. Though, Kija was like that with all of them, and even strangers.
