The next few days drifted by. Time did not move fast, nor did it move slowly, it moved at a good pace. A peaceful pace.

"A dull and foggy day with a drizzle of rain." James read aloud, threading his fingers through the soft, black curls of Regulus' hair, "The house is banked in with rolling clouds, which rise now and then to show the dreary curves of the moor, with thin, silver veins upon the sides of the hills, and the distant boulders gleaming where the light strikes upon their wet faces."

Sherlock Holmes had been a childhood favourite of James' and after a series of puppy dog eyes and persuading kisses, Regulus had finally agreed to read it with him. The minutes passed by as the sound of the young Potter's voice and the quiet patting of raindrops on the window filled the room.

"Holmes would not listen to such fancies, and I am his agent. But facts are facts, and I have twice heard this crying upon the moor. Suppose that there were really some huge hound loose upon it; that would go far to explain everything. But where could such a hound lie concealed, where did it get its food, where did it come from, how was it that no one saw it by day?"

"James?" Reg mumbled, moving his head up to look at his boyfriend.

"Mhm?"

"What do you say we have a mini party tonight? With all the others as well, of course." It was such a random question to have asked at such a random time. But, even though the situation was rather unexpected, a party did sound quite nice.

"Where would we have it?"

"The old, empty barn out back." James nodded and closed the book so that he could set it down on the bedside table.

"Sure, I don't see a reason not to. Do you think we could get some Fire-whiskey from anywhere?" Regulus chuckled lightly before answering.

"Erin has a stash under one of the floorboards in the living room."

"I'm not even going to ask how you know that."

"That's probably for the best. Let's go tell the others!" He exclaimed excitedly, jumping out of the bed and running out of the room. It had only been about 10 seconds before he came running back in, after realizing that James was not following him, and grabbed the boy's wrist to pull him off of the bed. "C'mon, Jay. I wanna tell them."

"Fine, off we go." He sighed, not because he was annoyed, not at all, but actually because he was relieved. Regulus Black was his boyfriend. After all of this time. After all of the simping and crushing, he was finally his, and to be quite frank, he could not believe it. This was a sigh of happiness. A sigh of content. He was happy.

***

At around 11 pm, all six teenagers, and one dog of course, (Peter having left on Christmas evening) found themselves sat on the dusty, wooden floor of one of the unused barns right at the far back of the farm. Each of them had a glass of Firewhiskey in their hands or placed somewhere close enough for them to reach and not even an hour after starting, Sirius Orion Black was already wasted.

"No, no, no. That can't be true, b-because if The Leaning Tower Of Pizza is actually The Leaning Tower Of Pisa, then that means that it's not made of pizza."

"That's because it isn't actually made out of pizza." Bailey rolled her eyes, resting her head on the wall behind her. Sirius grimaced and reached out to grab his glass again, but not before Remus moved it away.

"No, you're already drunk off your ass." Sirius gasped at this, turning around on his boyfriend's lap to straddle him.

"Now listen here, Moonyboonypie!" Regulus sighed from beside James and he blocked out the rest of his friend's stupidity to admire him. Okay, admire was a weird word to use now that he thought about it, but what other word could be used to describe how it felt to look at Regulus Black?

"Why're you staring at me?" Reg mumbled, snapping him out of whatever trance he had been sent into and grinned at him.

"Why shouldn't I?" He looked confused at this, therefore James continued. "You're very pretty."

Reggie snorted, sitting upright, and took James' glass away. "I think you've had a bit too much of that." He stated, drinking it instead.

"Hey! That was mine! And anyway, I don't have to be pissed to know that you're pretty." James could have sworn he saw Reg smile for a moment before it was replaced with his usual, calm expression.

"Hey, guys! Who's that out there?" Humphrey called out, pointing outside to the grassy area in front of the barn. Koa whimpered, crawling behind Remus. It was already dark but by the light of the moon, a faint shadow of a figure could be seen walking up to the front door of Erin's house. Everyone fell silent.

Suddenly, nobody was drunk anymore. Well, they were, but they didn't feel like it, nor did they act like it. Something was wrong. Something was very, very wrong.

The walk from where the figure stood and the front door was quite a long one, due to the large field, so whoever it was wouldn't reach Erin for a little bit. That's why James was prepared to scream when someone entered the barn with a candle-lit lamp. Regulus pressed his hand onto James' mouth before he could make any noise, and that's when he realized who it was.

"Auntie, what's happening? Who was that out there?" Bailey questioned, jogging over to her aunt.

"Shh, shh, you all must be very quiet for me. Everything is going to be just fine. Follow me, okay? And keep low down." Erin whispered, taking Koa by the collar so he wouldn't get lost. James could feel his heart beating in his ears as they got to their feet, crouching down ever so slightly as they crept to the back end of the barn, everyone hiding behind different items or machines. Reggie was about to climb behind a small piece of wood when James took his hand roughly and showed him to a larger item (some sort of very big wheelbarrow). They both lied down on their stomachs behind it and held each other close.

Nobody, other than Erin, had any idea as to what was going on but whatever it was, it definitely was not good. Not a single person dared to speak or move as they stayed in that barn. Shouts could be heard from outside, multiple male voices and one female. It was bright outside before silence came once again.
