The train ride was normal: saying hello to Peter, listening to him talk about his Christmas, telling him about James and Regulus, watching Peter nod, asking why he had nodded, listening to him as he explained that he knew it would happen eventually, Sirius calling him a traitor for not telling him sooner, everyone laughing, eating way too many sweets, joking about, having fun. But then it all went quiet.

"Guys...what are we going to do about Regulus?" Peter said so quietly it could be considered a whisper.

"I don't know....I truly don't know." James sighed, falling back into his seat.

"Why is it so depressing in here?" All four of their heads popped up when a girl's voice rang out through the compartment. Marlene leaned against the door, smirking at them all. Dorcas, Lily, and Mary were all stood behind her, trying not to laugh at how miserable the boys looked.

"Nothing, it's nothing. Everything's fine." Remus piped up, sounding completely truthful. How the hell did he do that? It was a lie, of course, but it sounded so bloody convincing!

"Well, alright then. Mind if we join you?" She asked, nodding towards the three girls behind her.

"Of course!" Sirius exclaimed, throwing his arms up into the air, "It would be our honour, m'ladies." Remus rolled his eyes, then went back to the book he had been reading.

Everyone shuffled up so that the girls could fit and then they began to talk. There wasn't one certain subject they spoke of, there were many, but the main one was what they spoke of when the train was all but 10 minutes away from Hogwarts.

"Hey, James? You still in love with, Lils?" Dorcas teased, Lily kicking her in the shin the second she said it. James cringed, looking away. As his eyes averted, he caught the embarrassed glance of Mary: she knew, she had tried to help, could she do anything to help now? Probably not.

"I- erm..."

"Wow- he must really be in love now if he's too scared to even say it in front of you!" Marlene raised her eyebrows, clearly shocked at James. It had only been months ago that James wouldn't stop repeating the words. 'I love Lily Evans' and 'Oi, Evans!' as well as 'Date me, Evans?' not forgetting 'Go to Hogsmead with me, Evans?' there were much more, but James hated to admit it to himself. He loved Lily, he always had, he always would but....Regulus. Regulus. Regulus. Regulus. There was just something about Regulus that he couldn't get over.

It was Reggie. His Reggie. And he wanted, with all his heart, to keep it that way. Until the world turned to ruin, remember?

"Oh Merlin- we're almost there and we haven't even changed into our robes!" Mary exclaimed. Ah, so she could help. "C'mon girls, let's go." As they filed out of the boys' compartment, Mary turned to James.
