"Just talk to me. I don't give a shit what you say, just something. Anything. One word. Just talk to me." Milo was stood at the end of Humphrey's bed, staring at him even though the other boy refused to look back. "One word." He found his voice cracking and water grouping up in his eyes, sighing when his 'boyfriend' still refused to acknowledge him. "Talk to me or we're over."
The room had already been silent, but it seemed to become even quieter. Everything was still. Regulus would be back from Prefect duties soon and Milo did not want him to have to watch this.
Humphrey did not reply. Milo let out a frustrated yell, kicking the bedpost. "You're not the only fucking one who fucking lost someone. So fucking selfish." And he stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind him. He almost forgot to cover himself in James' cloak, of which he borrowed frequently, but, he did, and left with a tear on his cheek.
Humphrey sighed and grabbed the fire-whiskey bottle off of his bedside table, raising it to his lips, only to find that it was empty. He covered his face with his arms and groaned. First Erin, then Bailey, now Milo. Regulus would walk away next, Humphrey was sure of it. He was wasting away.
"Humphrey." Regulus nodded to him when he entered the room. Humphrey did not reply, he never replied. "I saw Milo. You okay?" Humphrey groaned once again, but this time in the tone of a stroppy teenager who had been asked to wake up for school, and he pulled himself out of bed and exited the room. Was he okay? No.
"Humphrey," Regulus complained and followed after him, he wasn't getting away again this time. "Humphrey Chambers, stop being such a bloody twat." He followed him all of the ways out of the common room, into the dungeons, up to the next floor and towards the courtyard. Regulus had no idea where they were going, he didn't even think there was an exact location in mind. "Just stop walking, you prick."
"The definition of 'prick' is either stabbing someone gently with something or it's a dick. So I assumed you're calling me a dick, correct?" He stopped in his tracks and turned back to look at Regulus.
"Wow, he speaks," Humphrey rolled his eyes, "Since when did you become so intelligent?"
"Since the smarter sibling died." He said it so strongly, so fiercely, that Regulus wondered if that was actually how he felt.
"Humph..."
"No, stop it. Stop with the insults and then the pitty. Pick one. Either attack me or synthesise with me because I don't have the energy to deal with both. Which one are you going to pick, huh? Milo chose insults." Regulus was the one who refused to reply this time. "Well, I've got my answer." And, once again, he left.
"Black?" A soft voice echoed through the empty corridor and Regulus turned around to find Lily Evans walking towards him in the dark. "Why are you out of bed? Duties ended ages ago. I saw your name on the sign-out list."
