"Are you sure this is going to work?" Sirius complained whilst Dumbledore gave his Halloween speech, his head resting lazily on top of Peter's.
"Yes, Sirius. When have any of my plans ever failed?" James said with a roll of his eyes. Peter let out a snort of laughter, quickly joined by Remus and Sirius. The boy in glasses let out an annoyed huff and crossed his arms as he concentrated on the headmaster at the front of the hall.
Earlier on that day, the boys had charmed ravens to follow each of the Ravenclaws and to end their sentences with 'Thus saith the raven, nevermore'. These words had meant nothing to many people, but according to Remus, it was hilarious. And, well, Remus Lupin was usually right.
McGonagall had already given each of them a series of detentions for the next week - he had not yet informed Regulus of this. It was Halloween, he wasn't about to ruin that for Reggie.
James was snapped out of his thoughts when the hall began to applaud and he promptly turned to Peter. "You ready, mate?" The boy in question nodded and soon pretended to drop his fork, therefore having to climb beneath the table to collect it, yet he never came back up. Sirius kept an eye on the people around them, in the hopes that they had not noticed the advancement, and Remus stared at the door. He split into a big grin when a small, barely noticeable, rat crawled through the open crack in the large entrance.
"He did it." This comment earned a silent cheer from James and Sirius before they patiently waited for the feast to begin, aka - Sirius' turn. "You sure you're ready, Pads?"
"Yeah, you, Moons? Prongs?" Both Moony and James nodded in agreement that they were prepared and smirked wide grins.
"And so I bid you all a good evening! May the feast...begin!" Another round of applause took place and Sirius dropped his fork, climbing underneath the table. James' foot patted the floor rapidly and his pointer finger tapped the wood of the table nervously but stopped instantly when a series of Gryfinddors began to squeal in fright.
A black, fluffy dog ran under the table and round to the side of the Hufflepuff's table, right by the pile of pumpkins, and climbed to the very top. Plates began to fill the table, but instead of food, there was an endless amount of small spiders crawling all over the tables. Peter had done it!
"Remus, go!" The scarred boy bit his lip tightly before concentrating on muttering a quiet enchantment to his wand under the table. Suddenly, to the boys' delight, every single pumpkin in the hall (there had to be more than a hundred) began to sing 'The Witch Queen of New Orleans' by Redbone 1971, Padfoot barking along to the lyrics.
Spiders began crawling up people's sleeves and into goblets, one certain group decided to nestle into Snivellus' hair, erupting a very loud laugh from the two remaining Marauders. James' eyes rested on a certain curly-haired boy, who of which was laughing at a teary-eyed Humphrey Chambers. Bailey, though still very ill, was passionately singing along to the lyrics with her eyes trained on a red-headed Gryfinddor. Hm, James hadn't known they were friends.
