The table was silent at breakfast. Nobody spoke unless that was to thank Erin for the food, and then there was quiet again. To be completely honest, everyone was terrified. There was absolutely nothing in the English vocabulary that they could say at that time to calm anyone down, or soothe one another, they were scared. So, so scared.
That was, until, Bailey spoke up.
"Auntie. Who was that?" Regulus jumped at the sudden noise, James then resting a hand on the boy's thigh in an attempt to comfort him.
Erin sighed, putting down the plate she had been washing and drying her hands off with a teatowel before she came and sat down at the table.
"Can you all promise me not to be scared?" Nobody replied, "That's fine, I don't know what I was expecting. Of course, you're going to be scared, that's normal. Well, um- Oh goodness, I don't know how to explain this."
"Deatheaters," Humphrey mumbled in realization. Everyone turned to face him with shocked expressions, some confused. "It was Deatheaters, wasn't it, Auntie?"
"What are Deatheaters?" Bailey asked, perplexed.
"Followers of You-Know-Who." It was Sirius who spoke up this time. Regulus wrapped an arm around B's shoulders when she began to shake, this was bad. This was very, very bad.
You-Know-Who had been all over The Daily Prophet those past couple of months. If you didn't know who he was, you were lucky. Nobody wanted to know about him, it only caused them fear. Who wants to be afraid?
"Why were they here?" Remus asked, his hand wrapped into Sirius'.
"For me, I would presume." Regulus hated to admit it but he knew it was true. His parents had 'gone to a meeting' this Christmas break so he, therefore, could not stay at Grimmauld Place, they had obviously gone to visit the Dark Lord. The only reason why the Deatheaters would come to Erin's home was that they knew that Regulus was there, and they needed him for something. And that sent shivers down his spine.
"Why? That makes no sense. Why would they want you?" James exclaimed, sitting up straight.
"Because they want me to be a Deatheater, most likely."
"Y-You can't. I-I won't let them!" James rose to his feet this time, pressing his palms into the table.
"I doubt there will be a choice. And if there is, it will be between me joining them or them killing me. I suspect that I'll be made to join in Summer."
