January passed swiftly, nothing too exciting happened. On the 11th it snowed, causing everyone to play outside, throwing snowballs at each other and creating angels on the ground - sadly, it melted the next morning.

Regulus and James spent almost every day together, before class, after class, between two different classes, lunch break, nighttime. The whole Deatheater situation was never mentioned, and if on the rare occasion that it was, silence filled the room. Sirius was speaking to his brother more regularly now, which Regulus was extremely glad about. Bailey seemed to have cheered up about whatever it was that had been bothering her that day in the library, apparently, she had started seeing someone - Reg, Milo, and Humphrey were all very happy for her.

And, that brought us to the 30th January 1977, the birthday of the one and only, Lily Evans. There was to be a party in the Gryfinddor common room that night, all houses invited if they came along with a Gryfinddor (they didn't want anyone like Snivillus or Malfoy there), and so the whole school was very hyper.

"No, no, no! Up slightly. Down a bit. Just to your left. No, no! Not that left! The other left!" Mary exclaimed, throwing her arms down to her side as Frank tried and failed to put the banner exactly where she wanted it. "Fine! I'll do it myself!" She wasn't stressed at all.

"Mary, sweetheart, calm down! There is no point in worrying! Everything will be perfect, I promise." Alice comforted, rubbing her hand in circles on Mary's back. She sighed and dropped the banner to the ground to hug Alice.

"Oh, I know. I just want everything to be amazing for Lils." James made his way over and picked up the banner.

"Where does it need to be, then, Miss MacDonald?" She let out a long breath and gave him a thankful smile.

"Thank you so much."

"Anytime, M. Now, let's do this!" Everyone decorating in the room cheered and continued on with what they were doing. Just because he didn't have a huge crush on her anymore, that didn't mean that Lily Evans didn't deserve the best birthday party ever.

"Reg, can I ask you something?" James questioned, leaning against the wall behind Regulus' bed as he wrote in his diary.

"I'm sure you'll ask me either way." He mumbled in reply. James chuckled and walked over to sit on his desk.

"So, there's this party tonight and-"

"No. I will not come with you."

"Why not?!" He whined, swinging his legs back and forth.

"I said no, James. End of conversation." The puppy-dog eyes clearly weren't working.

"Humphrey and Bailey can come too! I'm sure I could get Milo in as well!" Regulus still did not look up from his writing, practically ignoring his existence.
