Cyann was hammered. He won the MVP of the year two weeks ago yet he looked like he was about to lose his whole career and didn't know what to do.
We were hanging out at his apartment with Kyle, drinking, when he left the living room and went to his bed. Muntik pa yata akong sapakin kanina sa sobrang pikon niya sa'kin. You can't get your head straight if you don't hear the truth.
Same way that I found out that Alice's boyfriend and his whole family have close ties with the Zaldivars. It was a tight-knitted relationship as the Salvatierras are almost always present at Zaldivar gatherings and occasionally dropped by the ancestral house every now and then.
"Si Brix?" Tumango-tango si Kyle habang nagkukwento. "Mabait 'yon, nagkakasundo talaga sila. Playful pero attentive. Malambing na bata. Kagagaling lang ng dalawa sa El Nido, the vacation was all over her social media."
"I don't own any social media accounts."
"Buti para wala kang makita. Alice is very active, lalo na sa instagram. I think it has to do with her job also."
"Ano bang trabaho niya?"
"Ang alam ko theatre actress siya tapos may side hustle din. Those Disney princesses you booked for parties?"
Tumango-tango ako.
"Alam mo bang engaged na sila?" sunod na tanong ni Kyle.
"Oo, nandoon pa nga ako."
Nanlaki ang mga mata niya. "She invited you? At pumunta ka?"
"No. Girlfriend ko ang photographer na may hawak ng event."
"Kaya ka ba nagpainom?"
Tinitigan ko siya ng masama. "Ang sabi para kay Cyann ito, bakit napunta sa'kin?"
Tumawa ito ng malakas. He shrugged the topic off and gave me a concerned look. "Seriously, how was it?"
"Iyon talaga ang plano, Kyle. Mabuhay siya nang masaya kasama ng iba." Sagot ko sabay ininom ang beer na hawak.
"Bakit parang iba ang itsura mo?"
Alam ko ang tinutukoy niya. "Ewan ko ba, ngayon ko lang naramdaman 'to. I saw this coming, I planned pero hindi ko alam kung papaano ipaliwanag itong nararamdaman ko."
"Is it heavy on the chest? So heavy that you want to punch someone? Because brother, I've got news for you."
"I can't focus on anything else. I feel lethargic." Tumayo si Kyle mula single-seated sofa at tumabi sa'kin. Hindi pa siya nakuntento at inakbayan niya pa ako. Tinutulak ko siya pero hindi siya natitinag. "Don't touch me."
"You're jealous." Bulong nito sa'kin, halatang lasing na. Buong lakas na tinulak ko ulit si Kyle at napaayos ito ng upo. Hindi ko alam kung gaano karami ang nainom nito pero binantaan ko pa siya ng isang beses pa bago siya sumunod at lumipat sa dating upuan.
Hindi sa malakas akong uminom. I had the same drink for a while now while Kyle chugged most of the cans on the coffee table. I'm just not fond of drinking. I don't like to lose control over my body.
