Matapos ang insidenteng 'yon, hindi ko na nakita si Brix o Miguel sa mansyon nor any mentions of what happened. Sitting here at the library with Aileen, she was more tolerant than expected. I was also informed about the supposed welcome party for me two weeks from now.
"Sure, though I have a British passport. It will be a little complicated processing this." I'd trade this deadass Vincent-name over anything. I hate being named after George's dead son.
"We'll handle it." Aileen nonchalantly answered me. "Do you want to apply for dual citizenship?"
"That would be a smart move."
"The DNA test with the lawyers was done with matching results and we'll present this to the court tomorrow para maayos na natin ang documents para sa pagbabalik ng pangalan mo."
I filled up a plethora of applications and petitions for this, talked to lawyers for affidavits, and had a proper DNA test with both Aileen and Albert for legal purposes. Took pictures in different sizes for various documents, natawa pa ako sa isang application dahil tinanong pa ako kung anong dahilan ng change of name. Ilalagay ko sana, 'tortured and almost died a million times, can I have my name please?'
Tumango ako ng isang beses sa babae. "Thank you."

Ngumiti ako sa kanya bago tumingin sa relo at magpaalam. "I've got to go."
I was about to book a service for a ride-hailing app on my phone nang tumayo ang lalaki sa kinauupuan nito at umalis. Nilingon ako ng babae. "Hintayin mo ang daddy mo bago ka umalis."

"You know you could stay here for a while. Kahit na habang buhay?"
"Hanggang next week pa ang tapos ng lease ko sa apartment."
"Ipapasundo kita." Tuldok na ang kasunod ng sinabi ni Aileen kaya hindi na rin ako kumontra. Isa pa, wala pa rin akong nahahanap na malilipatan sa sobrang dami ng nangyayari sa buhay ko ngayon. Hindi ko na alam kung anong uunahin.
