"Y/N."

My eyes fluttered open. I was laying on the ground of an all black room. The room looked like it went on forever. Where am I? I sat up. Someone was standing in front of me.

Emma.

I quickly got to my feet. She smiled at me.

"Emma?"

"Yes." She gave me a smile.

"What.... Am I dead?"

She shook her head. She looked sad. "Not yet."

"Yet?"

She nodded. "Yes. You are in between living and the afterlife. Your body is still alive but.... barely."

"How are you here?"

"I am here for you."

"I miss you." I said.

She nodded. "I know."

"Did it hurt?" I asked quietly.

"No. They used a killing curse so I died instantly. They killed me first, to make my parents watch. I am just glad I didn't have to see them get killed."

"Emma I am so sorry." My voice cracked.

She smiled. "It's ok. I don't really feel upset that I am gone. It's peaceful here. And I am here with my mom, dad and a bunch of family members I never got to meet. Did you know I had a seven times great grandpa named Alfred that was a singer? He's quite good actually."

"Well I am glad you are ok."

All of a sudden my name was called from somewhere. It sounded like it came from the other side of a window. Very muffled but loud. I looked around.

"Severus." Emma said.

I looked at her. "What?"

"Severus found you." She smiled.

"He found me.." My voice trailed off.

"We must quickly say goodbye."

"But I don't want to leave."

Emma stepped closer to me. "I know you don't but you need to go live your life Y/N."

"But,"

"Y/N. I want you to live. I want you to be happy. I will always be there with you every step of the way."

"Emma no,"

"Shhhh. I love you." She gave me a small smile. It was then I realized she was fading into the darkness.

"Emma please don't leave me." I whimpered.

"I won't. I am always going to be there with you. I promise," Her voice was barely a whisper. "Good bye for now Y/N."

"Emma," I started but she was gone. I was alone in the dark. I could hear Severus saying something but I couldn't make it out. He sounded extremely distressed.

A light appeared in the distance. I looked around me then proceeded toward it.

As I got closer I could hear Severus's voice get louder. I also heard a female voice with him. I noticed the light I was walking toward was an archway of light. I could see nothing past it. I had to squint it was so bright.

"Y/N please wake up." Severus begged. I could hear everything as clear as day. "You said she would wake up!" He exclaimed.

"I said she probably would. She lost a lot of blood." Said the female voice.

"Y/N please." Severus's voice cracked.

I reached out to the light. My hand passed through the light no problem. I took a deep breath. I turned around to face the darkness.

"Goodbye Emma. I love you." I said. I turned back around and took a step into the light.

My eyes shot open and I gasped. I sat up.

"Y/N!" I was crushed into a hug that knocked the air from my lungs.

"Careful Severus!" Said the female voice.

I looked toward the voice. It was Madam Pomfrey. I was in a bed in the hospital wing.

Severus pulled back but grabbed my hands. He had bags under his eyes and his cheeks were wet. He searched my face and lifted a shaky hand up to brush hair away from my face.

"You're ok." He whispered. "You're ok. You're ok." I know he is only saying it to comfort himself.

Something caught my eye and I looked down at my wrists. On both my arms, my whole forearms were bandaged with white gauze from the top of my wrist to my elbow. I was also wearing a white gown.

I looked up at Severus. He still looked so worried. "What happened?" I rasped.

"I woke up and noticed you were gone. I didn't want to leave you by yourself because I knew something like this would happen. I went to look for you and found you in your room unconscious laying in a giant puddle of blood. You did this," He touched my bandaged arms gently. "To yourself. I took you here and Madam Pomfrey gave you some medicine and did some healing spells. She couldn't heal your cuts all the way so they have to heal the rest of the way on their own."

I nodded. "Did anyone see?"

He shook his head. "No one knows about what happened except for me and Poppy."

I nodded again.

"Y/N, did you do that on purpose?"

"What?"

"Did you try to kill yourself?"

I shook my head. "No. Well, at least I don't think so."

"You were so close to being dead Y/N. If I hadn't found you when I did, you would be dead right now."

Maybe that wouldn't be so bad. I thought. I would be with Emma. I felt my heart wrench in my chest. Should I tell him about Emma? About how I saw her when I passed out? No. He would think I am even more crazy.

"Y/N?"

His voice brought me back. "Huh?"

"I asked if you are feeling ok."

"Yeah. I am just tired and my arms hurt."

He cupped my face. "I am glad you are ok. I am so thankful that you are alive right now."

Someone cleared their voice. "Sorry to interrupt but Y/N needs to rest." It was Madam Pomfrey.

Severus sighed. He dropped his hand and stood up. "I will be back soon ok?"

I nodded. He grudgingly turned and left the room.

"Drink this." Madam Pomfrey held a small cup with dark blue, almost black liquid out to me. I winced as I took it from her. It hurt to move my arms.

I downed the liquid in one gulp. It tasted absolutely foul.

I handed her the cup back. "You need to rest now."

"Alright."

She stiffly turned and left through a door at the end of the room.

I looked around me. All the beds were empty and neatly made. Mid morning sunlight streamed in through the large windows.

I laid back against the pillow. I kept my arms limp at my sides. It hurt too much to move them. I stared up at the white ceiling. My eyelids feel heavy. Soon enough I couldn't keep them open anymore and I fell into a deep sleep.
