December

A few weeks have gone by since the girls from Slytherin attacked me in the bathroom. Severus told me that they had gotten 4 months worth of detention and got suspended. Draco had been inviting me to sit with him a lot. Harry and I were on good terms now. He had gotten over the rejection.

I have been spending quite a bit of time with Severus. I had mandatory lessons with him so he could keep an eye on me. Those lessons aren't such a pain anymore. Sometimes we sit in silence doing work. Other days we talk. Christmas was coming up in a few weeks. I couldn't wait!

"Your attention please!" Boomed a loud voice from the front of the great hall. I was sitting at the Gryffindor table with Emma, Noah, Harry, Ron, and Hermione. "As you all know, Christmas is coming up in a few weeks. The staff and I had decided that we will be putting on a Christmas dance!" said Dumbledore. excited talking erupted all around me.

"The last dance that was here was the yule ball 2 years ago!" said Emma excitedly.

"Oh I hope there is no age limit! I really want you guys to go!" said Hermione. As soon at the chatter quieted down, Dumbledore spoke again,

"The dance will take place on the 23rd. I know some of you want to go home and see your families for Christmas so there will be a train leaving on the morning of the 24th. There will also be a train leaving on the 17th for those who do not wish to go to the dance. There will be no age limit. Everyone can attend!" cheers erupted from all the tables. Dumbledore left the great hall, A sign that dinner was over. We got up and headed back to our common rooms. There was excitement buzzing all around us. I was so excited!

"What color dress are you going to wear Emma?" asked Hermione.

"Purple. I brought it just in case something like this happened." replied Emma.

"Awesome! I am going to write home for my mom to send me a dress! Do you know what color dress you want to wear Y/N?" asked Hermione.

"Well, I don't own a dress." I said quietly. Hermione and Emma looked shocked.

"WHAT!" they said in unison. I felt myself blush.

"I never needed one." Emma's eyes lit up as if she had gotten an idea.

"There is a dress shop In Diagon alley!" exclaimed Emma.

"And how is she supposed to go there?" asked Hermione.

"She could ask Dumbledore! I am sure he would let her go to get a dress!" This was a good idea in theory. I didn't trust my mother to buy me a dress. Her taste was awful. Plus, I don't even know my dress size.

"I can try to ask. Doubtful though that he would let me."

"You can always ask. And if he says no you could always borrow a dress from someone if they have an extra." said Hermione.

"I suppose. I will ask Dumbledore in the morning." I replied. We climbed in through the portrait and into the Gryffindor common room.
