Chapter 24 Returning to Present

Engulfed in darkness, a man with gray hair and red eyes wearing a long sleeved nightgown is aimlessly walking through a black void of space. He doesn't feel anything, he doesn't know what he is doing, he was just walking bare footed with nothing in his mind.

All of a sudden, he heard a woman's voice that made him stop in the tracks.

"Wake up child, don't wander for too long. You must come back to your senses."

After that woman's whisper, the darkness was slowly filled with light coming far from him. He followed that light and when he did, he was blinded by it. He closed his eyes for a moment and when he opened it again, he was lying on a bed in a tent all alone. 

He checked the unfamiliar place, there were a lot of chambersticks lit up in every corner and everything was disorganized. He sat up feeling groggy, his body was so heavy he could feel his bones cracking as he move. Still in daze, he examined himself, he was half naked and all bandaged up, from his wrists to his legs till his chest and while he was looking down, he felt that his face was wet so he opened both of his palms to catch his overflowing tears.

"Why....am I crying?" The man asked himself as he stared at his wet hands.

It felt like he was having a long dream which seemed like someone's dreadful life.

While wiping the tears from his eyes, strands of his grey hair gently dangle on the side of his face.

It caught his eyes and thought, it has a beautiful color. He was admiring them until a man's voice coming from outside startled him.

"Theobalt, report what was happening in the Kingdom, make it short."

"Yes commander."

"According to Sir Kao's letter sent earlier, when Emperor Mew arrived at the palace with the other knights three days ago. He couldn't say the Empress' demise in front of Lord Suppasit so he asked for his secretary, Earth, to relay the unfortunate incident to him. Lord Suppasit was locked in the basement and he and Sir Kao went down to tell the lord about the incident. The secretary insisted on opening the door because Lord Suppasit may teleport to find the Empress so Sir Kao agreed. Our lord was still in his werewolf form so when Secretary Earth told him everything that had happened, he went berserk and bit the secretary's throat. Sir Kao tried to separate them but unfortunately, the secretary was killed on the spot."

"How about Kao? Is he alive?"

"Your son was also badly bitten too but due to his ability he wasn't that injured and his body healed itself. He waited for the Lord to calm down and let him be attacked before telling him that the Empress' body wasn't found but they regarded her as dead based on the height of his fall. After a few minutes, unexpectedly, Lord Suppasit shifted back into his vampire form and instantly sought the Emperor. He ordered him to send the knights on an indefinite expedition to retrieve the Empress' body today. They wouldn't be able to go back unless she was found and because the knights' numbers aren't a lot to begin with, he is also planning to attend the banquet during our world's foundation day that will be held in five days to announce that the Empress is dead and whoever finds her whole body without any limbs missing will be granted to become the next Emperor."

Another voice from an elder woman was heard following Theobalt's report, her jaw dropped as she turned her head to Alexander, veins popping out from her temples.

"Is he crazy? Alexander, stop him! If he lets everyone enter Arzonia's forest, they will find our tribe!"

"Lucy. If I were him, the tribe would be the last thing I would care about. He believed Kana was dead and if I were in his position I would be willing to trade anything for him."
