Chapter 48 War Begins

Days before Lily regained her consciousness.

Someone knocked and Lily heard light steps walking towards her and felt the side of her bed sink.

"Hugo, be careful or you'll trip."

Hugo? Who's that?

With her eyes closed, she frowned, wondering who the child Gerty was talking to.

"Mama?"

"Young master! don't disturb her yet."

Lily felt someone poked the middle of her eyebrows, massaging it and the woman internally screamed.

Mama?! That stinky can now walk?!

"But she's frowning, is she having nightmares?"

And he can talk already too?!

Lily frowned even more hearing their conversation. It was strange for her to hear Hugo's voice, moreover knowing he had a growth spurt in one week.

The child now doesn't look like a werewolf youngling, unlike when he was found by Kana. He's more like a typical human six years old child with wolf ears and tail.

The Emperor decided to name the werewolf as everyone uses different words to call him. Some will say, child, beast, werewolf, youngling, baby so to make things easier for everyone, he named the child, Hugo.

Lily just laid on her bed, feeling the touch of Hugo that was carefully removing her bandages on her arms and wiping them with a warm wet piece of cloth.

"Mama is still sleeping? When will she wake up?" the child asks, rubbing his cheeks against hers.

Lily got tickled and reacted by flinching her pinky finger. Hugo saw that and brightly looked at Gerty.

"Oh! Mama moved!"

"That's great, keep on talking to her."

The day passes as usual.

Lily listens to all the stories of Hugo until midnight, when Hugo starts to walk and speak, he refuses to leave Lily's side and asks the Emperor if he can sleep with her every night.

Mew also believes Hugo's presence can help Lily's loneliness decrease so he gives him his permission. Since then, Hugo never left Lily's side until that day when Suppasit went inside her chamber and tried to drag Hugo out.

"No! Let go! I'll sleep with mama!" The child pulled himself from the Suppasit's grip while hugging the pole of Lily's bed with his other arm.

"This brat. Come with me! We need to get some blood tests from you!"

"No! You're going to inject something in me again! I don't want to! It hurts me!"

"Don't be a wuss! It's only for a second! We need your blood sample again!"

"I said no! Mama!!! This man is bullying me! Scold him from me!! I'm scared!"

Lily could hear his harrowing cries and she could do nothing but clench her hands.

"Mama!!"

Stop!

Stop tormenting him!

"No matter how you scream at her, she won't respond. Damn it! Let go of that pole or we're gonna teleport. I want to go back to Kaiser so cut me some slack!"

Hugo cried even louder and threw tantrums.

Lily couldn't bear to hear more of his cries so she tried to open her eyes.
